Came here as 2nd choice. First choice was the Pepe cafe across the road which looked good cos it had an enclosed outdoor seating area and reviews on this site said it was great. But they were out of half of the things they listed on their menu and could not accomodate us, so unimpressed we crossed the road to Out of the Blue. I must admit previous reviews here put me off but I have to say we were really impressed with Out of the Blue!I had a BLAT which came laden – great value. The food was super fresh and attractively presented. It came very promptly. It was delcious and good value too at around $13. My boyfriend had a beef burger which was large and he said it was really tasty. It was a fraction of the price of the one listed across the road (which was off the menu that day). So Out of the Blue you get a big thumbs up from me. Nice shaded courtyard outside and what’s more, no smoking allowed out there – whoop!Best meal in the Coromandel that weekend.

We ended up waiting over an hour and a half to only have our money basically thrown back at us, no meal and to be sworn at. They clearly don’t know how to do their job as they took our food to another table. We were so disappointed. I have worked in hospitality and know the number one rule is the customer is always right to ensure repeat business. I have never been treated so poorly in my life. Very average.
I ordered a mushroom and mince pie and a cappuccino. The cappuccino was excellent, but the pie had been heated in the microwave, which made the pastry tough and soggy. That’s definitely not the way to heat pastry. Would I go there again? Yes, for the coffee, no for pastry. Perhaps the dessert would have been a better choice.
