Delicious food and a great coffee to match what more could you ask for ! The staff were really lovely and friendly and the atmosphere was super chilled out and nice. I would definitely recommend if you are in Raglan to give this place a visit. The menu has great options so will be back next time we visit Raglan for more yummy food. Pictured is the fritters dish which came with an egg and avo smash super yummy !
I gave this place a second chance today, after a disappointing first visit a few weeks ago. Unfortunately they didn’t really perform.The coffee a few weeks ago was terrible, a cappuccino with less foam than a bad flat white; and the portion size was very small for the price.Today, I had the Chicken Roti which had barely any chicken in it, just stuffed full of potato. My friend had the worst iced chocolate I have tasted in my life, it was truly gross. She had a bagel which she enjoyed however. OUR FOOD TOOK AGES! Three tables that were seated and ordered after us had their food before us, some 10 minutes before. It was clear they knew the staff as the staff paid them a lot of attention, largely ignoring us. I think the biggest point for The Shack is the rude and unpleasant staff. On both occasions I have felt like a burden to the staff when ordering anything, and frankly been treated with a cold harsh manner all round. Customer service makes or breaks this industry, and I won’t be back again unfortunately. Its such a shame because the decor and location has such potential.
Liked the decor, very funky and friendly service. Its a shame about the food and coffee. Could do with a bit more ooomph with the coffee and not so burnt, and the food was a bit odd (strange combination of salmon and sour broth). Would give it another go if I’m down there again.
We enjoyed our brunch so much we went back the next day and did it all over again and weren’t disappointed :-). The eggs benne is superb but what really impressed us was the well oiled machine in the kitchen producing fab looking food that kept up with a very busy patronage (most other cafes in Raglan were empty) along with great waitresses who were totally focused on the job and really friendly. Loved the quirky but understated and clean decor. The Shack would totally give the Ponsonby strip a run for its money, thats for sure. 🙂
Good food, some great lunch choices, but portion sizes are a bit weight watchers at the moment
Always a winner in Raglan.Great Coffee, Service, and food is always spot on.Will continue to return time after time.Definately try their Eggs Benne with Salmon, or even their Beef burger! Anything will be a treat.
