Thought we would check out this place only because of the rating here on Menu Mania but was highly disappointed with the overall service and food – especially given that the restaurant was not busy and they had more than enough staff to cater to us throughout our ca. 2 hour dine. Booked a reservation to celebrate a Mother’s Day dinner for two adults and two small children and was seated by 7 pm (2 hours after it opens) – not near the end of the dining period – and it was clear that the restaurant was not busy. There was no urgency among the waitress staff and there were obvious clear tables available for more customers prior too and throughout our dine. They reserved a very small table that would normally be sat for only 2 adults at other restaurants around Hamilton. We ordered a few minutes after being seated and before our entrees were brought to our table, the waitress for some strange reason removed the children’s plates. No water bottle or jug was given to us, but instead the waitress came to fill our cups (but only one time throughout our 2 hour dine) even though our glasses of wine arriving promptly. The children were bored waiting for the food and began to use the cutlery to tap the glasses. Our entrees came at a reasonable time, some 15 minutes after we ordered, however the children had no plates to eat their bruschetta on but fortunately after one bite they both decided they did not want to eat anymore. It took about 20 minutes and 4 neglected looks by waitresses, who walked by, to clear our dishes after we had finished eating the entrees. We ordered the “make your own pizza” for each child which took the waitress 20 minutes to get back to the kitchen after the kids had already put their toppings on the dough and attempted to eat it. Finally, after 1 hour and 15 minutes, after the entree, our mains, including the cooked pizza for the children, arrived at the table which was cluttered with excess cutlery left behind by the waitress. I would rate the Salmon main a 3/5 due to the risotto tasting a lot like poorly mashed potato with prawn and peas in it, however the orange complemented the salmon, but the wine made it easier to digest. The Steak main would be rated 4/5 due to the main disappointment that the steak was not warm enough. The pizza had the same taste as Dampa (bread dish made while camping in the woods) so gets only 1 star – also based on the fact that the children could not all of the pizza despite having waited almost 1.5 hours for their dinner! The overall quality was exceptionally low for the pricing of the dishes however, I am glad that one waitress offered, at least 1 child, a plastic cup and that after the entree meals had already been eaten, that they decided to entertain the kids with some crayons and a waterproof picture to colour. Sadly however, I would not like to dine there again. Would suit adults dining out on a date, as the environment has a nice feel with the wood and chandeliers, but there was no soft music playing so the hour plus long wait for the food would be boring, if you’re not much of a talker, and you might get a sore butt from the poorly cushioned seats. Would not recommend families dining there and not as affordable as they claim. Had hoped to say nicer things, but we paid over $130 to dine there and the experience was not worth the price.

Went to the Eatery with my mum and my 2yo – they were fab brought out special (nice) plastic cutlery and plates and cup for miss 2 who thought it was super special, then did the make your own pizza at your table which she also loved, then whilst waiting for dinner they brought out a drawing set for her to keep/take home. So considerate to those with kids and to make it even better our adults mains were DIVINE, freshly made pasta with fabulous flavour! We will be going back!

We have just come home from celebrating our Wedding Anniversary with a meal at the Eatery. Everything about the experience was first class from the booking experience until we left. The service was attentive and friendly without being over powering, and the food was superb. We shared an entrée of Tre Formaggi Arancini, then had mains of Mezzo Pollo and Allagriglia Carne di Cervo. Dolce then seemed necessary to round out a beautiful meal so we indulged in Tartuffo and Affogato. Coffe and Limoncello rounded out the experience. If you have even the slightest liking for Italian cuisine you need to try The Eatery.

Dining at The Eatery last week was fantastic. The service was polite, friendly, attentive and incredibly professional. The food was exceptional – very flavoursome, it was thoroughly enjoyed by all, as was the wine. The night we dined, during the week was bustling but not loud, and the atmosphere was relaxed and warm. Highly recommend.

It was an absolute pleasure dining at The Eatery last week. The food was incredible, I highly recommend the calamari as a starter (a little chilli kick, nothing too hot though if chilli isn’t your thing) and the veal as a main. I highly recommend you get as many desserts as you can fit in your stomach, I went with my partner and ended up having 3! The chocolate dumplings were mouth watering, the Tartufo was delicious and the creme brulee was a perfect balance between crunchy and smooth. The service was really friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was a good vibe for a Thursday evening, especially when sat by the fire. I gave my 5 star rating because it was just a wonderful evening all round.
