Dinner for four on Easter Sunday. This place is in the Rototuna shopping centre. It is sort of divided into two areas, one bar and eatery, and the other more like a restaurant (with another name). Owned by the same people I think. We were in the bar area, and went for dinner. The bar area is not large but well set out. Nice atmosphere. We were waited on by the owner and you wouldn’t get better service anywhere. Well done. In fact most staff were very good. They are competing with some big neighbours e.g. Lone Star and Good Neighbour, so this may be their point of difference? The food was typical bar food i.e. burgers and things. They were well presented and no complaints from our table! They covered the dinner plate (metal tray type dish) with some paper and this just got soggy and I had to be careful not to be eating the paper!! Not a bad selection of beer, but exploring some more craft options would be good. Overall, a good experience and would recommend you get along and give it a try.
The service is amazing at The Keg Room, they are the only place in Hamilton that truly believes that the customer is king, they are always helpful and bend over backwards to give you good food and excellent service. My favourite thing about this place is the fact that their kitchen never closes – ie if you walk in at any time they will be able to help out with food, this really is an asset when doing business late and everywhere else is closed – Keg Room/Eatery – you really set the bar high – thanks so much!
We are regulars at the Keg room and one of the main reasons we keep going back is that there is a fantastic team in the bar as well as the kitchen, that always go out of their way to ensure we enjoy our visit! There is a really good selection of food options available while enjoying a drink, all of which taste great and are presented well. Our favourites are the calamari (best I’ve tasted in a long time!) as well as the corn fritter, very nice! If you’re a pizza lover, the $5 pizzas on Sunday are a fantastic deal, great food at an extremely low price which just shouldn’t be missed.
Awesome service, awesome food, we come here on a regular basis and have always found the atmosphere to be great.Highly recommend the pizza – the American classic is awesome as are the crisscut fries. If you are looking for a nice relaxed place for a bite to eat and a drink, look no further the bar staff go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need – even a bowl of peanuts!
I’ll start with the good, to be fair it was a lovely day, the beer was going down well and the service was good. Then the food came. It was disgusting!! The Pizza (although $5) had a quarter of a prawn on 3 bits and none on the rest, it was called a spicy prawn pizza but was a tomato paste on a base. Then the fries and American Hot dog came and the fries were so overcooked they crumbled when eaten, they were so hard, a second off burnt. The American hot dog smelt and tasted expired!! It was the worst smelling food of my life! The American hot dog bun was either old or left out in the air for too long as it was not toasted but chewy and gross. But the atmosphere was nice it was absolutely just the food that let the place down. Pub food or not, a chef would never produce such disgusting food so I wonder who was cooking on Sunday 17th November between 4-6pm?? Will go back for a beer and the food is well priced but I’ll never eat there again and I’m worried the eatery shares the same chef? I want to try but definitely scared.
Have visited many times for beers and for food. Always great service, friendly and interested staff, nice relaxed atmosphere and good value-for-money food. We stop by whenever we’re around Rototuna for a beer and/or a bite. Happy to be an ‘irregular’.
This is such a cool place – the kegs mounted on the wall give the place a really cool feel, the peanut shells around the place give it a relaxed bar / cafe vibe. I ended up eating and drinking here a couple of times during my stay in Hamilton so can highly recommend the crisscut fries, the pizzas and the special lunch menu gnocchi! The bar staff are really friendly and have a great knowledge of the beers and ciders on offer. The red wine on tap (yes, on tap) is delicious, a nice oaky taste! Great spot for lunch, dinner and a good afternoon drink 🙂
