A workmate and myself stopped for lunch last week.We ordered curly fries, breads and dips, iced coffee and a coffee.1. The place was freezing cold and when I mentioned this the waitress informed us they had ran out of wood. After commenting how cold it was she did offer to turn heater on for us.2. The menu said the bread came with 2 particular dips (basil pesto & Aeoli) and we were served with 2 chutney like dips that were not on the menu. When I asked why the chef informed us that basil prices were high at present. No apology was offered for giving us something that was not o the menu. We were not informed prior to receiving the breads that the dips were not going to be the ones on the menu. The bread was far too crunchy and appeared to be slightly stale.3. We watched our food sit on the counter (under a warming lamp)for approximately 5 minutes while the waitress began to make our drinks. I asked her if she could bring our food before she started making our drinks (she did this).Only one other person was in the restaurant at the time.4. The coffee and iced coffee were horrible. Coffee was very bitter and the iced coffee had whole coffee beans sitting in the top and my work mate thought they were chocolate drops and crunched into them.5. We didn’t get cutlery or serviettes given to us when our food arrived. It wasn’t until I started looking around that I realised we had to get our own as I saw it sitting on a shelf. The curly fries were delicious. We both left disappointed and will not be going back.
I took my wife and her sister to have a coffee at the windy ridge. After seeing the meals coming out of the kitchen,we decided to stay for lunch. The food is of a very high quality and the service was simple but flawless. Our only complaint is it was quite hot sitting out on the deck, but we should have asked to be moved inside. Overall we were very impressed and plan to return very soon. Thanks guys.
I went to christmas function on the week end.The best service I have recieved in Hamilton in a long time, and I have eaten all over the world. The chef was A1 and the atmosphere 5 star.Worth a look.
Unlike the previous reviewer we had a very pleasant experience at Windy Ridge. No problems with service. We did go at lunch time though. Meal was absolutely beautiful. Disappointed that they do not open for a Sunday evening meal however.
I am a local of Ohaupo and i am very disappointed in what service was given to myself and people i dined with tonight. We booked at 7.30pm. We sat down and menu was handed out as per normal. 5 Minutes later they gentleman came back and asked if we were ready to order. We had only looked at the entries. He ask what about your mains. We asked for more time, feeling rushed pick an entire quickly, asked if he could come back. Entries Fine but not great. Chosen our mains and kind of enjoyed entries but asked for T Bone steak and were told sorry do not have that dish. (FELT VERY RUSHED). No sooner had we finished our entries mains were out (which was fine). We were half way through finishing our mains at 8.15pm when the waiter started to clear away the surrounding furniture. We had to ask for another drink, or though he did ask if we wanted dessert,we yes please, felt he was not happy with this response. The waiter keeps on cleaning up furniture around us until we were the last table left in the restaurant. Guttered by this response we asked for a roadie at 9.15pm to be told that I’m sorry i have turned the alarm on down at the bar and do not know the number on how to turn it off to get another drink for you. (the bar was closed 8.15pm) After paying over $100.00 for our meal and feeling uncomfortable we left. ( The licence says 11am till late , is 9.30 late! GUTTERED FOR THE LOCAL BAR! wish you well will not be coming back real shame!
