A beautiful experience – family owned! Amazing! I adore this place! After completing the Waiomu Kauri Grove we decided to go see the Square Kauri which is on the same road as this gorgeous place! The food is made with quality ingredients and cooked to perfection my salmon pizza was covered in salmon, capers and delicious sauce! The base was cooked to perfection! They have a beautiful baked cheesecake! The interior decor of Koru is absolutely gorgeous and warming! The owner really takes pride in its care and appearance! The gardens itself is a must! Make sure to buy a little bag of duck food! Lots of lotus flowers, water fountains and the cascade waterfall is stunning! A great experience!
Hidden gem with great service and delicious food! Great place to unwind yourself after going up the windy drive! We ordered a soup to share between us and they brought it out in two separate bowls for us to enjoy, very thoughtful of them 🙂
On the way back to Thames from the Coroglen Farmers Market via the Tapu-Coroglen Road, we stopped for lunch at Rapaura Watergardens restaurant. We’d been before and loved it. This time we didn’t go through the gorgeous gardens ($15 admission) which include several acres of bush and theme locations, a waterlily lake (a wonderful wedding setting) and a waterfall at the end of a bush walk. We went directly into the restaurant and sat by a window looking out onto a huge moss-covered rock, pungas, grasslands, magnificent tea-trees, and fantails flitting about. Tranquil and peaceful. The food matched the setting. Perfect attention to detail. The lightly-curried kumera soup came with a freshly-baked beer bread sitting in what looked like a smallish flower pot. Cute! The main course of Morrocan lamb balls I chose (and thoroughly enjoyed) is one of the specialty dishes, but we could equally have chosen the Special Steak Sandwich, mussels, or from several other dishes I no longer recall. The dessert my friend chose was a generous and decadent caramel-covered ice cream sundae. The cost for 3 courses (without wine or coffee, as we were content with water) was $41.50.I believe the watergardens are closed in Winter. I thoroughly recommend dining either at lunchtime or in the evenings at Rapaura.
The food & service is Devine. Walking in feels like you are unwinding from the worlds issues. The walk around the gardens was pleasant & relaxed. I hope more people discover this little gem up the Tapu Coroglen Road. Campervans are also able to reach the Watergardens. Will be going back for sure !
