I’m such a cake person, and no matter where I go cake is the star of the experience. Good cake selection, a tad on the very small portion size and they charge extra for yoghurt/cream. But the flavour of the cake is so good that it compensates the rest. Coffee was served as I asked – HOT!
What a cafe! One of the best cafes i have visited in the country. Food really good, service fast & friendly. Coffee could be a little hotter though, otherwise a 5 star rating. Busy arty alty setting. Is worth a one hour drive from auckland. 2 visits now & will go again.
We stopped off for a quick coffee stop. I had an aniseed latte. Great flavour of aniseed but the drink was only luke warm. So it certainly was a quick coffee. Also had a banana muffin. – Great. Two drinks and a muffin. $11. Great value. Sat outside on the pavement in the afternoon sun.
We stopped at Sola for a coffee and a slice of cake on the way back to Auckland from a long drive through the Coromandel. While the service was friendly, and the Almond & Orange cake was absolutely delicious I can’t help but feel like the experience was soured by the additional charge for both decaf & soy milk.I’m always incensed when having to pay extra for soy milk, seeing as a carton of soy milk is approximately $2.99 and a litre of regular milk is around $2.49. I don’t see how cafes get away with charging an extra 50c for soy milk when it’s only 16% more expensive – if I wasn’t allergic to milk I’d choose the cheaper option!
I would totally recommend this cafe. I have eaten here many times and keep coming back for more. Their breakfasts are great, last time I tried their bean burritos and they were also delicious. My husband and I are not vegetarians but the food is so tasty, the fact there is no meat is irrelevant. They also do a very good brownie and coffee. They have forgotten about our breakfast once, when they were really busy, but they handled my enquiry really well, the breakfasts arrived shortly and 2 brownies, in a bag,as way of an apology. The Customer service and the food is consistently excellent here!!
