Me and my husband were greeted warmly, a bit of a wait on the food but it was better than average, i liked my snapper with risotto and my husband seemed to have enjoyed his steak sandwich.

Very disappointed. We came here based off recommendations from the Zomato app and left hungry as the breakfast we ordered was not worth eating. The so called pancakes were a a huge oily lump of batter served with far too much sickly fake lemon curd (not home made) with a tiny tea spoon of raspberries. My partner had the same only with a measly piece of bacon that was burnt on one side and not cooked on the other. The coffee was awful too – Luke warm and burnt. Several staff were sitting around chatting while we waited over 20 mins to be served and people who ordered after us were finished eating before we even got our coffees. A real shame given we had come out of our way to stop here for breakfast.

Went for coffee and cake. A little disappointed in the variety of the cabinet. Coffee was good! Best coffee I have had so far. Service was great, had a little bit of a hick up with my order but staff was great in asking, if I wanted to change it. So they get gold in customer service.

I love this place, sadly I just moved to the other side of the world and won’t be back for a while.Great staff, even better coffee and food. I love the modern cafe in the country feel. There is so much parking and the locals all seem to be regular customers.I would be there having a nice foamy caramel hot chocolate right now if I could!

My husband and I have visited this hidden Waikato Gem now for several years and it seems to get better and better. What used to be a great place to stop off down the line, has somehow got even better now that they have the best Allpress coffee we have tasted south of the Bombay’s by a significant margin. We now love the fact that they are open on Friday’s for dinner especially and have enjoyed incredible food and service every time. On reading some of these reviews, whilst people are entitled to their own opinions, we struggle to believe that those people have dined at the same café. As owners of several eateries over the years we would be proud to produce the quality food and service the Firepot team provide. We hope that if you somehow have had an unacceptable experience that you have passed on your feedback directly to the Firepot so they are aware and can improve for your next visit. My husband who is a chef would always value any feedback good or bad directly as I am sure these guys would also. As far as we are concerned if you want the best coffee, and one of the best meals and café food around this is the place to go! Thanks so much to the Firepot team and look forward to our next visit south.

My partner and I have been wondering if this was a well kept secret for a while now and decided on a Friday night treaty dinner to test it out. We won’t go back. Why?The mains took an hour to turn up, the cheese board another half hour. The steak was overpriced, poor quality and gristly – though properly cooked for medium rare. Alongside that was half a dozen chips. The haloumi salad was ill considered. A random assortment of veges with no cohesive flavour. I suspect that it wasn’t even seasoned. The haloumi was black. The side order of prawns had been tipped out of the freezer into some dirty oil and chucked into the haloumi salad for wont of anything else to do with them. The cheese board had some good blue and smoked cheese and quantity wise it was the winner of the night. However there were a third of the number of crackers required to eat the cheese. The fruit was laughable with dried fruit straight out of packets into wee bowls.Thank you to the staff for maintaining good service. We enjoyed the wines. It really is inexcusable to have no interesting beers on offer. All in all an underwhelming meal considering the prices being charged. A shame really, we were really hoping for a reasonable restaurant in walking distance.

My wife and I came for a Fri night dinner. Service was great and food was reasonable. My feedback relates more to the finer details of this establishment. The walls are adorned with ads for Monin syrup and cheap looking floral pictures. This somewhat haphazard decorating seems to clash with a classy vibe and style of dining I previously associated with FP. The playlist was reminiscent of the radio station ‘Classic Hits’ which created an odd atmosphere. As locals we are stoked to see this place doing well, but maybe it needs to decide if it’s a classy eating establishment or just another country cafe.
