  Good local pub. Food was good- nothing spectacular. Pricing more in keeping with Taupo than pub food pricing. The pie is a must-try though! Latest menu attached as I couldn’t find this online.

  I had previously informed the owner of this business prior to our reservation the size and occasion of our party. I had not received any phone calls or emails a week later with any information. Another week had passed before he phoned me, saying that he had sent the information to another address, obviously failing to follow up with a phone call to my number he had since rediscovered. 3 set menus varying in prices as well as a children’s menu were emailed a day before our dinner reservation, leaving absolutely no time to contact 10 working families of their options. When we arrived at the venue, we were swiftly told by the waitress that because we hadn’t decided upon which set menu we wanted , the owner simply selected one for us, this obviously done without any prior consultation. We were then informed that we could not order from the A la Carte menu as well as the set menu, we were to all conform to one or the other. The children’s meals were quite late being served, although there were only 4 other tables being waited upon. The chicken dish was far too spicy for those children who ordered it, hence being hardly eaten,. The children were reduced to eating the remaining bread from the adults entrees as well as our fries, when our meals arrived. One meal was sent back to the kitchen as the meat patty was still raw in the middle. This meal was replaced with a fish and chips meal , this was no better as there were scales in the meal. The children then had to wait another 30 minutes for their deserts, by this time they were getting very restless. When it came to paying for our meals, we were the last to leave, we were then informed we were also to pay for another child’s meal, this was cancelled for one reason or another. I firmly believe that this a mistake on behalf of the establishment. Overall, there is nothing positive that I can say about this business, apart from the fact that the problem starts at the top. I have been unrelenting in my opinion of the Mole and Chicken, Taupo and strongly urge others to venture elsewhere regarding service, food quality and atmosphere. I am unreserved when I say try Dixie Browns Café, now there’s a fantastic dining experience
