Fresh fish! Finally! Great service, quality and the price is what is to be expected of an upmarket fish and chip shop. Neil if you want something cheap go to another fish shop who will sell you frozen, pre battered fish. If you want fresh fish and good quality food be prepared to pay in this economy! Meanwhile the rest of us can enjoy this treat!

I wrote a review approx 2 months ago raving about the quality of the food under new management. Unfortunately I have to amend my comments as on my 2nd visit, the one I had to pay for myself, I was absolutely disgusted by the pricing of this place. If they paid as much attention to their price points as they do their packaging, they might manage to keep some of their clientele. I mean fish, scallops, chips all in their own little styrofoam boxes. And come on! $8 for a basic cheese burger with a homemade chutney, not to mention $5 for a tiny piece of fish I could fit into my mouth in one hit. They really need to buck their ideas up. People choose fish & chips for valve not prettiness. Make it taste good, make cheap & the people will come! $30 to feed 2 a basic f&c meal is just crap!

19 May 2011 – Everything in Whangamata shuts very early. Got into town late and went looking for food. Found this place to be open. Quite expensive portions of battered fish at $5 for a small fillet. Chips were good as fresh oil but serving was small.
