Warning! This restaurant is not the best by a long shot. We have been in Whitianga for a week and had many wonderful nights dining. This place has to be our worst ever experience! The waitress was rude, she took an instant dislike to our table because we were laughing! Seriously! Then she would not serve the table alcohol – we only had two drinks!!! I am so disillusioned with this place! When we dared to complain after we only had an entree the other waitress/supervisor decided to try and rip us off with our bill. Not only did she tell us it was $189 she the proceeded to tell us we needed to pay it without showing it to us. Finally she gave us the bill and it was only $111. Big difference! Rude staff and unfair treatment! Will not dine here again, please be wary!
Salt is a very good restaurant right in the heart of town. They have indoor and outdoor tables and can get quite busy. On the night we went they were medium busy but the service was prompt and attentive. Food was very good and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Two entrée, two mains and a bottle of wine cost about $160. Salt didn’t quite get our top restaurant in Whitianga award but it was very close.
Surprised to find this gem amongst the fast food takeaway places off the main road. This is probably the fanciest restaurant in Whitianga so def a place to treat yourself. I had the snapper and it was deliciously cooked.Excellent service and lovely chic modern atmosphere.
We ate there twice whilst on holiday in Whitianga and had two excellent meals. Service was very good, and food was excellent. Nice selection of wines to chose from, and a very pleasant setting looking out over the marina.
We recently indulged in lunch at Salt whilst holidaying in the sunny Coromandel.The service was fantastic, water was served immediately and drink orders were taken very quickly after that.The express lunch menu was good value and the food was delicious, I have to admit to a bit of menu envy. I had the Tuna Cerviche which was nice but the steak sandwich and the fish and chips were pronounced delicious!The outdoor tables overlooking the marina were lovely and the small lawn area in front of the decking gave the 2 year old tornado somewhere to safely play while we enjoyed our meals.We will definitely be back!
I ate here in Feb 2009, with my husband and my best friend (even when she lives 12000 miles away)The girls had the crayfish starter my husband the belly pork could not fault either course.My friend and husband had the rib-eye steak, I had the fish of the day. We all followed this with the rhubarb creme brulle.I can only say we will talk about this meal for the rest of our lives.We have all eaten around the world and this was the best meal of our lives.The view,service,food and wine were out of this world. I will sing their praises forever!!!!!!!!!!!!My friend has just had her Birthday and stayed in a top class hotel in Auckland for it.But alas the food was not to the same standard.
