This sushi shop has been around for years, they used to make a great bento box and had nice fresh sushi, unfortunately over time the quality has dropped substantially, every time I have been past their donburi section of the shop its never available I have tried to order donburi 3 times now to no avail I’m positive it is just there for looks now as we can never order any donburi, Oh well there are plenty more shops to dine at. Pretty disappointing.
Do not go to this Sushi Place, I just went there got such bad service! I was waiting at the start of where you pick your sushi for about 5 minutes waiting for some clean tongs, I did ask about 4 times, then it still took 2 minutes to actually get them to me. I picked a range of sushi and all was very below average. I went to pay, and waited 5 minutes for the lady to go sorry I didn’t see you there, after she was doing her own thing behind the counter. She then served me with NO smile, I asked if I could please have 2 soy sauce and some ginger and also a rubber band or some tape to close my sushi. She gave me one soy sauce packet, no ginger, no rubber band or tape and served the person next to me. RUDE!

Minimal chicken flavored options this lunchtime. I tried the teriyaki chicken and it was ok. Nothing special. I have tried better, but it was edible though.
DO NOT go to Umi Sushi at Centre Place! My friend and I had an absolutely terrible experience here as we ended up getting FOOD POISONING from the sushi! Extremely disappointing and unhygienic, as they leave their sushi on boards (not in cabinets) which are exposed to all of the different bacteria and germs circulating around the food court. Not only is their sushi disgusting and overpriced for what it is, they have extremely poor customer service. When I went up to pay for my sushi, the lady at the counter yelled some Japanese to one of the workers out the back and didn’t even acknowledge me when I was in front of her (she didn’t smile or say hello, she was just sour and RUDE), and I had to ASK nicely for ginger, wasabi and soy sauce because she did not offer. There is a small sushi shop outside the food court opposite the children’s playground, next to the bakery and I suggest you get sushi from there instead as the majority of their pieces are $1 and they’re better than Umi Sushi! Tragic experience. Shame on you, Umi Sushi.
I find it disgusting that their sushi is not in cabinets leaving their food vulnerable to all the germs circulating in the food court. They do not offer half price either when its close to closing time and their customer service defiantly needs improving. In saying that sushi was reasonably nice.
Not too bad but not that great either. Lacking a bit more flavour.
