Great coffee, friendly staff, but the food was poor value for money. Ordered the crumpets with bacon and mascarpone. The crumpets were homemade and were huge. The amount of bacon was ridiculously small. The dish comes with two pieces of bacon – they were the smallest pieces of bacon I have had at a cafe. The mascarpone and syrup that accompanied it were in tiny shot-glass sized containers – which was inadequate given the two huge crumpets. Gave feedback when asked and was told that we could buy extra bacon. I don’t expect huge amounts (especially given the price) but it was a bit of a joke.
I enjoyed my first experience and can say the second was the same. The food here is outstanding. Our steak was perfection. All the salads / veges that we ordered were packed with flavour and had the right balance. We also got the smoked fish, fried chicken, calamari – all delicious, but I need to go back to the steak – OUTSTANDING! The service was also great. Big well done to the staff. They understand the menu and were able to explain the principle of the sharing plates and were very friendly towards us. I’ll definitely make this a place I go back to!
