One of the best pre-cinema eating establishments in Wellington. Their soggy carrot cake and savoury flans are invariably delicious. A great place to graze and snack, with a coffee or a hot chocolate. Their gelato is usually pretty good too.
I love going down to the Penthouse for a nice hot drink after a long day but I’m not a big fan of the food offered as there is only a minimal selection. The service can range but isn’t the fastest so if you just want a quick stop this isn’t the best for it.
This is a wonderful little cafe with generally very delicious food for absolutely reasonable prices. We had a tasty tarahiki dish with smashed potatoes and greens , plus the coconut and kumara soup (which we shared and they brought in two smaller bowls without asking ) – all up for two $68 . Honest, delicious food without crazy prices and nice large portions !!! Plus you can see a great movie as well !
Great coffee and great hot chips. It was slow to get our food but it was worth the wait. We will definitely go back.
Penthouse Cinema & Cafe consistently presents fantastic meals (soup, big breakfast, bagels, French toast – they’re all great), and the atmosphere classy, relaxed and comfortable.Our indulgence was disrupted this morning, as a service disaster unravelled at tables around us. Normally I could ignore this, but not one front of house staff member took responsibility for what was happening. Not one offered a sincere apology. Not one attempted to resolve the situation. We decided not to return again. Neither will half a dozen other customers I suspect.It could be, should be, a wonderful place. An asset to the cinema and a go to standalone venue. Right now it’s not – the customer facing staff aren’t pulling their weight.
Massive vegetarian breakfast, great coffee and good service. They play good old timey music, billie holiday etc. Best option in Brooklyn in my opinion.
Always top service with a smile at the Penthouse! Great selection of movies for young & old and the staff have fantastic banter. Definitely recommend the coffee too. Thanks for providing a top experience, every time.
