On a recent roadtrip we stopped here for a quick coffee and a bite to eat. Im so happy i picked the savoury muffin from the cabinet! Cutting into the muffin and finding a dollop of cream cheese in the centre was such a delight that we stopped there again on the way back.
Went here on Sunday, very busy and full!I ordered a Chai Latte and Eggs Montreal. The wait was quite long, coffee took about 12-15 minutes (though that was to be expected seeing as they were packed). The meal came out and the eggs were on a halved bread roll with a side of salad which was quite unusual.. The eggs were over done but overall the taste was very nice, though in my opinion the salad didn’t go the best with it and could’ve done without it?I would return here, there is a good cabinet and drink selection and the staff were friendly 🙂
Had lunch with a friend who raved about the carterton burger however we decided to go with the Greek salad and ham frittata . Partner raved about how tasty his fritatta was. My Greek salad was chopped too finely for my taste and I wasn’t overly fussed on the sundried tomato dressings. Servings were generous however.
Brilliant little cafe – not an extensive menu but great cabinet food to make up for it. I had the salmon frittata and it was delicious! The spinach Benedict was also very good, although the eggs a little too runny. Highly recommend the vege muffin – it tastes incredible and has a cheesy centre. Also I couldn’t fault the friendly service
I’ve been here many times to just buy cake and the last time I had a meal here was prior to Zomato being available, so I thought it time for a review. The first time I went here more than 6 years ago, the cakes were amazing. Now the variety is not the same and they can be a bit under-whelming (especially the black forest gateaux which is filled with too much solid mock cream). Today I had the salmon eggs benny & tea; hubby had the big breakfast – he hates mushrooms and tomatoes so I inherited those. The food is obviously from fresh Wairarapa produce (as pictured). Enjoyable but not outstanding. The lovely lady behind the counter offered me a large teapot and a single price so it was great not having to ask for extra hot water. It is still probably the best cafe in Carterton.
Other review must have been a very bad day! Local Cafe for me and never been disappointed. Fresh food. Awesome cook! Always good for a bacon and egg breakfast. Food is great and a big selection. Can’t fault. Try the vegetarian muffins, not a vegetarian but they are beautiful heated up!
