Good, very busy though and had to wait for our table to be cleared, but can understand though as it was a full house. Food was tasty and cooked well. The eggs bene came with hardly any bacon and I’m undecided if it was worth the price. Other guest enjoyed the French toast and the size was more generous with his meal. Service was friendly.
Fabulous bakery! This popular bakery has a wonderful display cabinet filled with delicious treats. We tried the award winning lamb cutlet pie, the tomato bacon soup and a filled baguette sandwich. The food was fantastic and the bread was amazing – this is truly an artisan bakery.
Best cronut and pies ever! Pies are actually pies with generous flavouring of actual meat pieces and not drowned in tasteless gravy like other pies. Cronut with vanilla custard was devine! Could not fault. Also went back again for 3rd time in the day and got a fresh baguette roll! Simple yet tasty and fresh baked baguette to go with made it yummy. That was only cabinet food!! Would go back again and again when in the area
Highly recommended when passing through the Wairarapa. Easily missed if the accelerator pedal is down on the way from Wellington to masterton. It’s on the right, just after Carterton, next to a very good garden shop/nursery, and the large bakery car park invariably seems packed. Driving from Wellington to Napier, and in need of a coffee i’d be tempted to continue through greytown despite two good cafes (French baker and cahoots) and wait until clareville for the range of breads, pastries as well as the flight coffee. The walls seem to be covered by an unbelievable number of artisan awards for baking in general, meat pies and Christmas mince pies, gold medal winning sourdough etc etc. Pastries and breads are excellent, sourdough delicious, filled rolls flavoursome and the coffee well made. The cafe – bakery is large, plenty of seats and there’s more outside, under the shade of birch trees that are great on summer days as well as dog friendly. Highly recommended.
I find it very noisy here and overpriced. Service is slow and the pastries just not up to scratch. Coffee is nit great either. I would not return.
