Reading the other reviews made me more hungry as I waited for my meal to get picked up but the food didn’t at all meet my expectations. I ordered red curry – the gravy was thin and lacking punch, the chicken was scarce and the veggies were old. The cabbage was so soggy and gross it was definitely limp when it went in and I got lots of cauliflower stalk. Only positive was that the portion size was good. The chicken satay was dry and tasteless. Just disappointing overall

This is a pretty decent Thai place, prices are reasonable and quality is pretty good. I ordered the green curry, pad thai and the prawn spring rolls. Green curry (meat option was chicken) was fresh and mildly spiced with a decent amount of sweetness. It was creamy however, I have had better – this is still good. The pad thai was ok, lightly and sweet, again another chicken option, it was just a good.Although it’s not destination restaurant, as it’s in our neigbourhood, serves as a good local Thai joint – it’s good enough that I don’t feel compelled to travel elsewhere when ordering takeout Thai, but not good enough that I would pick it over other Thai places to eat out at with company.

This place is literally the best Thai place in wellington. The food is absolutely delicious with very good portion sizes. The meals are also presented very well. It is very popular among Weta staff and it is definitely a hidden gem. I would highly recommend going there because the food will greatly exceed your expectations and set a new standard for what you expect from Thai restaurant’s.

Really lovely experience at Long Thai! Waitress was very friendly and helpful. Best satay chicken and Tom yum we’ve ever tasted! Food was fresh and flavoursome. Price was very reasonable and portion sizes were good! Better than any Thai we’ve had in Auckland 🙂 would return next time we are down in Wellington!!

I often visit The Cutting, introduced by a couple of friends in the movie industry. Since my first visit I have been back many times and now I can not eat Thai anywhere else, because nothing matches up. Portion size-good, taste-excellent, staff-excellent, restaurant-excellent. I am a smoker and enjoy a ciggy after food and this restaurant has an outdoor bar where you can eat, smoke, drink and the locals are lovely.

I come here for lunch a few times a week, and I can’t get enough! Great prices and really tasty Pad Thai. The restaurant is in a bar so the seating can be a tad tight and the music is a bit chavy, but otherwise and excellent establishment.

I wanted to find a mildly spicy dish to have with a rare/special wine I recently purchased – a Wurzer 2008 by Seifried of Nelson. Wine tasting notes (were rare) indicated a spicy Thai curry was good company for the wine.I found two Thai restaurants in Miramar from Google. After reading reviews, I chose to patronise takeaways from Traditional Thai. I rang and ordered Chicken green curry with Thai roti. Having rung only 15 mins in advance of picking it up, it was ready and waiting on the ground floor when I arrived and was handed over by a friendly man. Getting it back to my friends house nearby, we found the dish and roti sufficient quantity for two not hungry people. The curry was delicious with lots of vegies and chicken. The roti was soft, tasty and large enough to be broken between the two of us. It also tested the wine well with the very mildly spiced food – results: it was a great food match and the tarty sweetness was a good complement during the first glass. Beyond that, the wine became too sweet for two to finish the bottle, but we almost finished. The food was tasty right to the finish and was just the right quantity. I’ll go back to the Traditional Thai and try something else next time. A pity there were only a few other patrons at 7:00 pm.
