  New to Wellington and we wanted to find the best pie spots in the region. Patricia’s pie shop came highly recommended so we purchased 2 pies. The curried chicken pie and the local favourite, the Steak and Cheese.The curried chicken pie was a 3/5. The pastry was a bit soft and undercooked and the lid of the pie wasn’t flaky at all however the filling was delicious with just the right amount of spice, plenty of flavour and a hearty dose of shredded chicken and veggies.The Steak and Cheese pie was an excellent 4.5/5. The pastry was improved however it still wasn’t flaky enough and it was the only reason the pie wasn’t a 5/5. The filling had masses of steak, plenty of tasty cheese (the highlight of the pie for me) and a great gravy. It combined into a very flavorful hearty pie that I’ll be coming back to have again.I also ordered a small flat white. The coffee was good with a flavorful shot and well heated milk however it was over frothed and resembled a cappuccino instead.Sophie Belinda McIntyre

  Went to the Basin Reserve shop this morning to grab my morning coffee on the way to work. The lady was so so happy and approachable and really knowledgeable about the product. Best customer service I have had in a long time and superb coffee!! I will be back 🙂

  Simply the best classic NZ pie shop in Wellington. The staff are super friendly and the coffee is great too. I always go for the vegetarian pie, simply cannot beat it.

  VERY DISAPPOINTING PIES HERE !!! After hearing fave reviews about this pie shop in Island Bay from friends, l purchased a Steak Cheese and Onion Pie at $5.50 for lunch a few days ago. Although the pie looked nice, crammed full of meat, and the pastry was nice and flaky, I found it to be quite a disappointing pie as it was quite flavourless, and there was no cheese and onion to be tasted or even seen. Also the pie was quite dry. A little more steak gravy would have helped it a long way. A recently purchased Steak and Cheese Georgie Pie from MacDonalds although smaller, was much more enjoyable.My other three family members who also had each purchased a pie there was of the same opinion. One of them purchased a large Stockman Pie at $7.00 and found that a promised egg in it was missing, and the pie itself was also quite dry and lacking flavour. Perhaps being purchased on a Sunday, the pies weren’t at their best, having been left-overs from the previous few days’ baking?
