Myself and my girlfriend stopped into this nice little cafe for a takeaway milkshake. the ambience and service of Kelburn Cafe was nice and welcoming. We then ordered our milkshake for take away and payed the six dollars. Now both me and my parter work in the hospitality industry in wellington and we are prepared to pay these prices considering we were in a wellington cafe. However we expect a certain degree of quality, at the least compared a dairy. The shake we received was a thin milky shake in a large takeaway coffee cup (about half the size of the standard cup you would receive in a dairy). We left the place feeling disappointed and ripped off. For this price we would expect it twice the size and with ice cream. This may seem like a petty thing to complain about but it was just taking the piss. i would rather them have told me they dont make shakes at all or at the least explained they had no takeaway cups and offered two coffee cups which would of been more appropriate for the price. Sorry guys. In our opinion its just not good enough. We would have liked to come back for more but are now put off.
Coffee at Kelburn cafe is fabulous, I go there twice a week due to it is within 5 minutes walking distance from where I live. Thank you Kelburn cafe for being my energy boost for the week. Keep on making the great coffee.
Really enjoyed the food and coffee. We are regulars. Kelburn cafe is a perfect spot on sunny day. Relaxing environment and friendly staff. All my family including kids enjoyed a wonderful brunch. Highly recommend to people who live in neighbourhood.
Second time I have been to Kelburn Cafe and both times my eggs have been overcooked and not runny at all for a poached egg, bread was soggy and bacon was cold. Disappointed considering we went on a public holiday and paid an extra % for an inedible and unsatisfying breakfast.
My partner and I went in for breakfast and we were told there would be a fifteen minute wait – we thought that was acceptable and we quite happy we were told before hand so we ordered anyway.FORTY-FIVE minutes later our food arrived – just as we had decided to pack up and leave.Our food was luke warm, had no seasoning at all and was extremely bland.It was definitely not worth the long wait!There were no apologies from the staff or updates saying it would be a bit longer than they had expected.Overall we are very unimpressed with the service and food – overpriced for what we received.

Even though Kelburn Cafe is quite small it had a good range of everything and it just is the staff that make it a quality place, from the coffee to the food I would consistently give 5 stars and for the staff probably at least 6. Always cosy and friendly, your perfect neighborhood cafe.
