Very good selection of stout / red and pale ale beers on tap. Loved that the bartenders offered generous tasters / samples as well. Quaint and vintage looking pub. Will definitely be back again.
My husband and I were in Wellington recently visiting friends. We went to a local pub in Kelburn Village. Kelburn Village Pub. It was probably the best all-round food and drink experience we had while we were in NZ. The staff was warm and helpful. The food was far better than expected. Outstanding wine selection, too. I loved everything about it. The night we were there, there was a rugby match going on too!!! Feel like I got the full Kiwi experience. Had a great time. Would recommend KVP to anyone looking for a outstanding food/entertainment experience. Thanks, Connie
Nice dining room, set aside from the main watering of patrons. Good friendly service , impeccable wait staff . Calamari starter was good if not a little bit under cooked. The salad pictured below had a strange taste to it of bitter vinegar. Not the best food, but good atmosphere and great service.
I went there with my friends after buying a coupon for six ( 2 courses and drinks) from Groupon.Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was ok but somehow my partner had diarrhea when she came home. We had steak, carbonara, chicken salads etc and some entries and deserts.I discussed the matter with the management team of the pub. They were very quick and polite in communication with me. The way they communicated tried to sort the situation and cared about her condition was impressive.I am sure they will examine what happened and make sure it will not happen again if it was happened due to one of dishes was slightly off. We suspect the dressing or chicken of the chicken salad might caused but we have no scientific evidence but only circumstantial evidence therefore I would like to give them the benefit of doubt.
Incredibly pissed off after this visit. My partner and I thought we would get some small food and a couple coffees to take the weekend easy. We order corn chips with guacamole, fries, and two soy coffees. Coffees come out with normal milk. Which they swiftly fixed. The fries came with aioli after I asked for tomato at ordering. The corn chips were literally 10 chips with a tablespoon of guac. I went up to the counter (3rd time) to ask for more. The girl explains she’s already tried to convince the kitchen it’s not enough and goes to get more. But only chips no guac. I ask to speak to the kitchen to try and explain the situation. He comes out, doesn’t listen to anything I have to say and just speaks over me telling me how expensive avocados and corn chips are. I can’t believe how rude and arrogant this guy was to a customer. He subsequently told me that if I don’t like it I can go somewhere else pointing at the window. We were left feeling pissed of, disappointed, and gobsmacked. I’ve never had a business personal have such complete disregard for the customer and their opinion, or basic rights! The pub has a great local atmosphere and beer, so I’m really gutted this has ruined the place for me. Poor poor etiquette.
This is a great suburban pub – food is fantastic and the range of beers is good enough from a boutique perspective. Would suggest if you are in a hurry that you let them know as this is a small pub without heaps of staff. The guys that are there are really friendly and knowledgeable. You can also ring them and book the pool table in advance which we did – had a terrific time playing pool and watching the soccer while doing so.
Great wee local pub, friendly staff that make you feel welcome, the best hot chips with garlic mayo in Welly, and I have tried quite a few !
