I have been twice now, and it’s not been the nicest. Their bacon fritter — I have no idea what it is, but it’s not bacon. The smell put me off. Their fish is a hit and miss. I had one burger and it wasn’t the best but processed meat you get that. Wanting to try their garlic chips, but with how they’ve been with my times there no thanks.Update says 8.30 on window closed at 8.10. Change hours. How rude.
We’ve been here a few times now and this place is pretty hit and miss. Today’s visit was particularly disappointing, the food quality was majorly lacking. We ordered a scoop of Kumara fries and a scoop of regular chips, these came mixed and seemed to be very small in size, they both had very little flavour and the Kumara chips were a little over done. I had the fish burger and my partner had 2 pieces of fish, and we both had the same opinion regarding the fish, it was thin, dry and flavourless. My burger had a nice flavour coming from the sauce but other than that it was quite boring. Paradise Seafood is however, quick and fairly cheap so I wasn’t expecting anything too special, but they could definitely make some improvements.
Very much the local for me and my flatmates in Kelburn! The burgers are great and huge, fish and chicken burger are really good! A couple of my flatmates also really like the cheeseburgers, which are nice if you don’t mind quite processed beef patties. The fish is decent, although would be worth it to splash out and pay for snapper as everything is cooked really well! Their chips are delicious also, but they really need to sort themselves out on portion sizes which vary largely and can be really tiny (however this can be a blessing in disguise to the waistline) This has become our local all year and prices are decent with overall good food.
The paua fritters AMAZING! Best in wellington. The fish is always fresh and cooked however you like it.My son loves their chips and I get the kumara ones, yum. It’s a monthly treat for us!
The fish and chips here are very good – fresh and properly cooked – however the burgers leave a lot to be desired. The beef burgers use that frozen beef and something patties that don’t really taste like anything. It’s surprising they don’t use proper 100% beef given they are right next to Kelburn butcher. So, go for the fish and chips and forget the burgers.
Fried food. Who doesn’t love it?I mean, it’ll give you a massive coronary attack at some point if you eat too much of it or it could clog your arteries up to the point where you’ll feel like you’re being squeezed for every last drop of tomato sauce. However, you’ll still go and order a fish and chip dinner and enjoy it immensely. ‘Cause it’s that good.At Paradise Seafoods, the fish is freshly prepared. You get what you pay for so the more expensive fish items are always a lot better in quality. If you stick with the traditional items, you can’t go wrong.
