Came here for lunch while visiting Masterton for the day. I had the steak sandwich which was well prepared. It also came with a generous portion of fries and delicious sautéed onions. I enjoyed the meal and particularly having a nice spot street-side. The staff were well attentive and welcoming.
We went to the Trading Co. for a celebration and tried it as someplace new. Was really dissapointing and really expensive for what was served. Heaps of chips, Steak with no sauce so really dry and wilted green salad (probably made the day before and left in a bin). How hard is it to make sauce? or cut fresh salad? No spice so bland. Won’t be going back there again.
Great place and lovely service. Have eaten many times in Masterton but usually at awful places like Iberia and Tripoli where the shocking food is second only to the noisy impersonal service. The Trading Co is a breath of fresh air well done 🙂
We were a table of four on Saturday evening and sat in the cool and refreshing courtyard area. The service and food were exemplary – whitebait fritter and garlic and herb bread to share, three steaks and a crumbed chicken breast. Salads were delicious and not drowning in dressing and the potatoes were divine. We wanted desserts but no way would they fit even with vivid imaginations.Too often we are quick to grizzle and less often offer compliments where they are due.Our heartfelt congratulations to each of those involved in preparing and presenting a delicious meal in every respect. It brightened a tiring and stressful day and we were all unanimous in our enthusiasm for the Wairarapa Trading Company.Kind regards and congratulations
Decided to go to the Wairarapa Trading Company for dinner on Friday night 6th Dec, what a great place, the service was great, had the wings with orange and ginger sauce, divine.. I had a steak cooked to perfection and my guests had ribs and the chicken, both beautifully cooked, we declined on dessert we were full. Thank you to all there, a wonderful experience. Will return in the new year.
I first visited The Wairarapa Trading Co in July and had a perfectly cooked meal and great service, sadly when I returned last week I was most disappointed my steak was terribly overdone and my partners ribs lacked any type of moisture. Our waitress was most friendly and offered to have our meal recooked but as we needed to catch a movie we declined, we were informed that there is a new chef in the kitchen and if that’s the case I say you might want to try bring your old chef back as the food has decreased in quality dramatically since our last visit.
Our meal was below par this time, ordered medium steak but it was charred on the outside and not a hint of pink inside, a burger tasted off, and the pork belly was dry. A few weeks before six people at our table of 12 ordered steak and the smallest person got the largest steak, and the biggest man got the smallest serve .. we thought that was odd. Standards are slipping.
