I want to start off by saying a big thank you to Professionals (which is situated next door) for the $30 voucher. Much appreciated. I ordered a pot of English breakfast tea and a raspberry and white chocolate slice. My husband ordered a mocaccino coffee and a raspberry crumble. But we had $11 left on the voucher so we picked 2 muesli slices and a thin chocolate bar for later. Drinks were great, and food was good. Staff were very helpful and friendly. A nice afternoon refresher.I might have to come here for lunch one day (and I will update my review hahaha) The couple on the next table was having a full breakfast even though it was the afternoon, and it looked and smelt amazing. Might have to try that. Yum.
Location: Nice and cleanService: Very goodPrice: AverageQuality: GoodRecommended: YesWould we go again: YesI would like to see more offers, maybe sign up via email and get email offers of the week or month on food and coffee, nothing special just a buy one get one free special would be great.
The Wendy house is pretty unmistakeable on the out as well as in-side of this modern, clean cafe. The orange and brown striped banquettes add to an odd eclectic interior that is reminiscent of the 70s except for the odder addition of great-grandmotherly Edwardiana in the corner. At 12.30 it is starting to fill up – it’s seemingly popular.Cabinet food has five levels of reasonable slices, rolls and cakes. I chose a New Zealand classic cheese roll from the deep south and a cup of tea.I’d forgotten how good cheese rolls were – a single piece of white bread rolled to encase the cheese and toasted with slight compression. It came with a good chutney. I’d have it again – in fact I’ve recommended it to several friends. The range of teas is good – t-leaf tea. The only black tea however was an English breakfast tea, which I ordered. I wasn’t asked about milk. It arrived in a pot containing one of the hand filled sachets with a little jug of cold milk. The cup was cold but was thin walled China providing less of a heat sink than the standard thick cappuccino cups. After 5 minutes it poured a pale brown, interesting citrusy flavour – good body, pleasant. On my tea scoring (see Astoria review) I gave Abode 17/30, well behind the current leader (milk crate) but close to Louis Sergeant and Clark’s on 19, Kilbirnie’s The Little teapot and Silverstream’s The Fig Leaf Cafe on 18 and both Le Maquis and Chocolate Frog on 17. Despite the comments of previous reviewers about service I found the lady in question to be ok – not effusive but not warranting a significant alteration in zomato score.Basically an ok cafe with the cheese rolls and tea pretty good.
Popped into Abode for a quick coffee. The place seemed very child friendly with a playhouse to keep them busy. The staff on the counter were helpful but gave the impression that they’d much rather be somewhere else. There was a large choice of both counter and menu items. The coffee was okay. jenjaroo.com
Only popped in for a smoothie after the gym but the cafe was presented well and had a lot to choose from. Our smoothies were yummy so looking forward to trying out some of the food
The coffee was excellent and our small group enjoyed the decor. The 3 star rating is due to the woman at the counter my friend referred to as ‘grumpy britches’. I notice the previous review called her ‘Lil Miss Unsmiley’. Thumbs up to curly and the other staff for putting up with it and delivering SMILES! and GREAT MUFFINS! Yum. Deserves 4+ stars.
Went here for a flat white today. Great coffee, shame about Lil Miss Unsmiley (LMU) though. She made eye contact with me at the till and then turned away. Props to the tall, curly-haired, friendly gentleman who took my order though.LMU brought the coffee to my table and as I looked at her and thanked her for it, she proceeded to not look at me and ignored me completely.Wow.Perhaps she’s new to the customer service game?
