Great, cheery and prompt service. Food was hot, delicious and plentiful. We had the mushroom and halloumi burger and the chicken schnitzel special. Both were fabulous. A glass of local pinot was a generous serve too. Highly recommended!

We were in holiday and decided to pop in to this place. The service was friendly enough. The decor is old and definitely needs a bit of tlc. Doesn’t look like it’s been touch since the 80s. There was a tone of dead flies along the window sill (over 30 no exaggeration )and when I pulled my chair out there was a dead fly on there also. They immediately came over with a jug of water which is great. But the jug was dirty in the inside. I was actually really put off by this stage and wished I hadn’t ordered food so I could leave. When the food came out I was pleasantly surprised. It was beautifully presented and actually tasted amazing. So much so that this was the best meal I had while we were away. The price of the food is probably the cheapest around and worth the price. If they up the anti with the overall cleaning and decor I believe this place could be a winner.

I ate there two consecutive nights last week, on the rec of the owners of the place I stayed in. These folk can cook, the prices are very reasonable and the food arrived promptly. Highlights were the chicken confit, and a banoffee pie that beggared belief for $10.I’d eat here again in a heartbeat.

Your average pub fair, good sized meals and priced well. Decor is typical pub but staff are friendly and accommodating. Not bad for a quick family meal out

From the outside you tend to think that this is the locals pub.. Rough and ready, and yes, you are right to an extent. The bar is full of locals, good honest hard working kiwis that don’t care that it’s bare feet or jandals to the bar. The restaurant decor is not great but I tell you what.. With the rest of the tourists we tried the Martinborough Hotel for dinner and were disappointed. The Pukemanu delivered on service with a great smile, excellent prices and great food. $20 steak menu was cooked to perfection, generous and tasty as. Look past the exterior and go in, you won’t regret it.

Food was bad and way overpriced. If you are looking to part with your hard earned cash for a nice meal then I suggest you look elsewhere!!!!
