Have recently moved to Masterton, and come across this gem of a place.Had a Hawaiian chicken burger (with wedges) and the classic burger (with fries) – brioche buns were perfectly done, slightly seared on the inside to give them a little crisp, and the meat patty was satisfyingly juicy. Only comment for improvement is perhaps a little more sauce. Also tried a few cabinet items (custard Cronut and a gold medal lemon meringue eclair, both were exquisite. Everything was beautifully presented.Staff were very warm and welcoming, felt very comfortable being served. And despite what an earlier review has said, the prices are reasonable and as expected for cafe/bakery. Definitely one of the better cafes / bakeries in Masterton – this is clearly evident from the constant lines of people queuing to dine. Will definitely be coming back often

My girlfriend and I went for a drive to Masterton, out of all the open places to eat on that lunch time, Ten O’Clock Cookie Bakery stood out. We liked how the place was very open and the sunny day was perfect for it. It was hard to distinguish different meals written on their blackboard, luckily, there was a menu available by the entrance. The line for ordering was quite long, and one of the staff was helpful enough to take my order on a different counter. The setting of the place had that warm and cozy atmosphere and it was great to dine in on a sunny day. I ordered their The Arabian, which had poached eggs on top of pieces of bacon and halloumi, on top of couple of ciabatta bread, it was also drizzled in basil and pesto, and garnished with dukkah. It was presented nicely, everything was flavourful and went well with each other. I have never had halloumi before, and after trying it, it is definitely one of my favourite types of cheese. I had to do some research to find out it was cheese. It has a similar texture to fried tofu, and then the creamy and delicious aftertaste hits you. My girl friend ordered their Salmon Hash stack, it wasn’t too much of a stack, their were only 2 hash browns. The meal could have done with more salmon, there was only a few sheds of it wedged in between the hash browns- it was called a Salmon Hash stack, she expected the portion to be more generous. It was a nice meal, the hollandaise sauce was amazing, it was creamy, tasty and you could taste the herbs. Not to much to comment on the spinach, it was cooked right and was seasoned well. The servings are not big, but this is reflected on their affordable prices of $15.50 for each meal. Having said that, we found both meals enjoyable, especially compared to other cafes we had been going to. I would recommend this place, and would definitely come back next time we are in town. We would like to try their breakfast menu and their baked goods, such as their cookies.
I have eaten at Ten O’Clock many times in the many years it has been open and I have to say it is definitely one of the best cafes/bakeries in town. They sell ridiculously good custard squares, I also love their savory muffins, shoe string fries, toasted sandwiches, raspberry eclairs and the almond croissants. The toffee biscuits and the breads they sell are very good too. They do a huge range of sandwiches, paninis, pies and savories as well as sweet treats and delicious ready to buy and made to order cakes. Everyone I know their loves their coffees too.The only negative is it can get quite busy and noisy at times, but that is easy to look over for me. Highly recommend this award-winning cafe!!!
