Best aroundBasin noodle house is a great place to eat I would head down there at least 3 times a week when I was a student because of the cheap food and large portion size. The service is quick and friendly.

The interior of the place needs a big overhaul but don’t let that stop you. The food is absolutely tasty and affordable for families. The portion size is more than enough. We love the place. There’s too many dishes to say which is our favorite as they are all amazingly deliciously tasty.

Absolutely stunning salt and pepper squid. The best I have had in Wellington, hands down. Always sad when it’s a Sunday and I’m craving some calamari as happens every day of the week. Please open on Sundays I beg you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also noodles have been fab, me goreng and the fried noodles have been class as well. Love that it comes with rice and has been hot every time I have ordered it.

I love the food at Basin Noodle House. This casual eatery is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Wellington. The eggplant in garlic sauce is cooked to perfection in a sauce that is both sweet and savory. Paired with steamed rice, it becomes my quintessential comfort food. The vegetable fried noodles are delicious, and so are the vegetarian dumplings both pan-fried and in chili oil. The chili oil version does not disappoint as the oil is well flavored, and though it is not as spicy as I would like (I enjoy a spice level that would knock most people to the ground), they are always happy to give me extra chili so I can kick up the heat. The dumplings themselves are handmade in a thick wrapper that is firm and chewy so it does not fall apart when you take a bite out of it. The filling is full of vegetables including cabbage and is lightly seasoned and flavorful. In the chili oil version, I love how the dumpling soaks up the chili oil sauce after a bite is taken out of it so the second bite can deliver an exquisite mouth of salty, vinegary, sweet, spicy, and oily flavors. These are by far the best dumplings in chili oil in the city. Because their food reminds me so much of home cooking, Basin Noodle House has quickly become one of my favorite places to eat in Wellington. Portions are generous, prices are great, and I love the casual atmosphere of the restaurant itself. I could eat there every day.
