always pretty awesome, great service and nice staff, and the coffee is excellent! an added bonus is that the space doubles as a low key art gallery, featuring interesting and well-priced work. a decent spot in Newtown 🙂
Good strong cuppa coffee, rad fit out, very friendly service and lots of stuff to look at. Probably one of the most decent cups of coffee in Newtown. Highly recommend would visit again A+++++ 🙂
AMBIANCE: Keeping in mind that it’s Newtown.. This place has a rawness to it, a gritty, dark and derelict first impression. There’s deathly art on the walls and it’s terribly lit and kind of makes you want to leave. But you’re tractor-beamed to the counter by the potent Havana fumes altering your mind. Along this journey you pass pinball machines and a lot of really cool art that is rotated monthly.SERVICE: After that dark journey it’s a confusing thing to be served by such friendly people. Without a single ‘black coffee’ in our order all were still happy to see us.COFFEE: This place was started by a Jon Dimery who worked at Deluxe in the city for a few years, and let me tell you, they KNOW how to make good coffee. Dimery brought Havana with him from Deluxe and are currently the only people in Newtown using Havana beans (do I have to keep saying they’re my favourite?)FOOD: Often supplied by Moon up the road, with a few other baked goods in there too. Top notch for a snack.PRICE: On par with what you get.OVERALL: Become a regular here and you’ll be well rewarded (and have terribly high standards in coffee, making you just impossible anywhere else on the country).
Black Coffee rules. Hardcore. Stick it to the man and support the little guy!Apparently reviews need to be 140 characters long so xxxxxxxx
