Gatsby Tapas Bar has been taken over by new management over the last few days unbeknown to our party of 4. Needless to say some there was a fair bit of chaos evident with the host announcing that they were short staffed on our arrival. The restaurant was booked solid for the evening and we had to book a table in the courtyard. It was nicely set up under the grape arbour and surrounded by 3 outdoor heaters which were much appreciated. They also supplied blankets on the back of the chairs which also came in handy later in the evening. We went through the menu which has two sections; Tapas (small plates for sharing) and a new Al Carte side menu which looked nice. We chose to do the sharing plates and were excited by the selection on offer which all sounded delicious. From the tapas menu we chose the Pork Belly, The herb and garlic sauced prawns, The Spinach and ricotta empanadas, The Malaysian Lamb Rendang, The steamed Mussels and Clams, and the Chargrilled Chicken Koftas. The food comes out as it is made which makes it fresh and hot. The highlights were the prawns, the pork belly and the mussels/clams. All were delicious and the mussels came out with a fantastic cooking liquor which was amazing. The dish comes with a one slice of bread to soak up the liquor but we wanted to finish it up so ordered more bread to make the most of the delicious broth. As part of a very disordered service the bread turned up after the broth had gone cold and had been taken away. We had said to the waiter that there was no point bringing out the bread as the broth had already gone cold but it still arrived later in the evening anyway. The empanadas were also yummy and had a nice dipping sauce to go with them though there was little in the way of actual ricotta visible inside them and felt like it was mostly spinach. This was more a let down in description that a lack in taste.Overall the main let down was two fold. Firstly the service was all over the place and our waiter seemed unable to take our orders or some reason leaving that to The Maitre’d and when he was trying to help out wasn’t listening to what was being said. Even our drinks took around 15-20 minutes to come out which felt like a long time.Secondly the servings varied in size and number making it hard to estimate how many to order and to divide them up. Basically there was not enough on each of plate for four people. Also, the pricing for each dish was high. The management acknowledged the delay in service (our whole meal took 3 hours including desserts) and kindly knocked off the cost of our bottle of wine.I feel that the management are trying to address the issues around service however if they could work out a better way of handling serving sizes for differing party sizes it would make the experience more enjoyable overall.Due to the looong wait for our food we ended up very cold which also didn’t wrap up what should have been a fun evening in the way we were expecting. We hope that the new management will be able to turn this around as Gatsby still has a potential to be a great local restaurant.

First time at this Tapas restaurant, from entering to leaving it was a very nice experience. On a not so warm day the restaurant was well heated, everything sparkling clean with a good ambiance. The Tapas meal for 6 vegetarians was excellent ordered the whole vegie menu apart from soup and wasn’t disappointed in look, taste or flavours. Grandad’s birthday and he even had a candle in his desert, a very happy meal. Will recommend.

Not the best experience. Booked for a 75th birthday. Food ranged from fabulous to terrible. Strange portions when you are meant to share plates. How do you divide three ravioli amongst four people? Owner there but not interacting at all with dinners. At the end we got charged more than double for our meal as they charged us for the next table as well. Then no one was capable of issuing a refund on their EFTPOS machine so we had to leave with a handbag of notes and coins.

This is my favorite restaurant at the moment. The food I love with my favorites being hickory smoked beef ribs, date and prosciutto bites, rare beef medallions on rice cake and funky roast pear salad, just divine! The decor is beautiful, quite spectacular set in the gatsby era. And often with live music. My only complaint would be that more tapas could be served together particularly salad with meat dishes

The food is so high quality and worth every penny! Everything is spick and span and it’s as if you were walking into a high-end restaurant in the 1920s. The decor is outstanding and the space is comforting.

Service was amazing, the staff were very friendly and made us feel as though we were very important! Food was also very good. Had the whitebait salad and it was seriously delicious! Would definitely recommend, it’s worth the trip out and can even head down to the beach after!

After an initial epic fail a few months ago, I returned to Gatsby Tapas with a couple of relatives on Saturday, for High Tea, and I was pleased and relieved to discover extremely friendly and professional service, excellent food, and lovely ambience. You have redeemed yourselves, Gatsby. Thank you for a very pleasant afternoon.
