Lovely setting and the perfect position but terrible service and worse food. I had a paste dish that tasted like tinned spaghetti and I am not exaggerating. I only ate it as I was starving and didn’t want to send it back and wait longer for food. It was actually the worst meal I have ever eaten out. The boys didn’t mind their fish and chips but nothing to write home about. It’s a real shame as this could be so fantastic considering the location.

The lamb burger is scrumptious and the fish and chips are exceptional. The only negative thing about this place is that their water tastes seriously funky. It tastes like some sort of mild detergent. Very strange. Use it as an excuse to drink more beer!
Just been this past weekend on a girls weekend in Martinborough. Stumbled on this wee little gem of a cafe/pub. We were all very impressed with the excellent food and service. We ordered fish and chips (the girls raved endlessly about the fish), wedges, pie and buffalo wings (best wings ever and I’ve eaten my share of buffalo wings around North America). Already planning the next girls weekend lunch here!
Visited Lake Ferry Hotel on another motorcycle ride recently and what a great time we had. I was impressed with the service and even watched the owner come out to help older customers into the hotel, service not seen often these days. My wife ordered the lasagna and received a huge plate which she said was absolutely beautiful. I ordered Fish and Chips and was rewarded with a lovely dish of fresh local fish cooked to perfection. Attentive service to our needs with drinks etc but not over bearing. All this was as we sat outside on the veranda, in the sunshine, watching the great scenery from the coast breakers to Lake Ferry and the Rimutaka Ranges in the distance. It is a little out of the way but certainly worth the effort. Recommended to all. We will be back (o:
