Really great place to visit while in Martinborough.Poppies doesn’t try to fake it as a fantastic restaurant but instead focuses on their stunning wine.Poppies just serves the one dish, which is not really a dish but a platter. This is highly recommended though as there are some absolutely scrumptious food on the platter. Some of our favourites were the pork belly and the house smoked salmon.With every platter comes a free wine tasting. Here one of the staff will talk you through the various wines and how they are created and what the history behind them are.You can really taste the differences between the wines at Poppies even if you are just like me and not a wine conisoure. The pinot gris was just fantastic and their late harvest pinot gris was almost like a dessert wine.Poppies only sell through their cellar door and do not supply any stores. Although their wine is quite expensive it does taste great and it is definitely worth taking a couple of bottles home for special occasions.Poppies is a must visit when in Martinborough but you do need to book. It is a great place for a romantic lunch or family/celebration lunch and we will be back.Food: 9/10Staff: 10/10Ambiance: 10/10Wine: 10/10Value: 9/10Would I return: Absolutely!!!!
