I go here heaps. Never had problems but their ETA’s are a bit off. 99% of the time it’s 10-15mins when it’s way shorter than that. I hope they adhere to hygiene conditions as one of the staff smokes on breaks.
I had fish & chips from here last night, the chips are gorgeous and the fish is nice but they were quite small helpings and sizes. The prices were good though and the person on the phone was clear and easy to understand so i would go back here.

Also love the fried rice! johns kitchen never fails to amaze me with good quality food! They are also very friendly every single time I go there , love there food!
Well, for a chinese takeaway it doesn’t get much better – I had 3 dishes which were all above par, the service is friendly and yes, it’s true – the sweet and sour pork is the best I can remember! Top chinese restaurant of Lower Hutt as far as I know. Keep it up guys!
As a couple people mentioned how great the sweet & sour pork is I decided to try it for myself.The verdict: It was very nice. The pieces of pork were large and tender with just the right amount of sauce to compliment the dish and not overpower it with pungent tartness as I’ve had in other places. The batter stuck nicely to the meat and didn’t fall apart and remained nice and crisp, undoubtedly due to the perfect ratio of meat and sauce.The man who served me was extremely friendly and greeted me with a lovely smile, which he continued to do so for every customer as I sat and waited for my meal; even the snobbish customers who came in and practically demanded their order. Gosh have some decorum people.I also got a deep fried moro bar which was delish.With great food and such friendly service I will definitely be returning.
John’s Kitchen is definitely our family favourite takeaway shop. The service is always friendly and the chips are fantastic.Real value for money and excellent quality! Definitely one of the best fish’n chip shops in the Hutt.The only downer I can think of is that sometimes it can take a while to get them but definitely worth it when you do get them.
