First time here but we really like the quality of food and beverage. My husband found the best long black in Wellington. I love those muffins no matter sweet or savory one, surprisingly delicious!!
Well this is definitely kiwi coffee culture at it’s best. If you come to Wellington make sure this one is on your hit list. Just a few streets from the CBD takes you to the back alleys of Havana. Lots of sacks & that glorious aroma wafting through the air on a wet windy Wellington day. You will even get a free tour of the roastery where you can keep warm with that aroma engulfing your senses in anticipation. Inside the first class lounge you will be able to relax on one retro couch or a few wooden tables. The coffee is the star here not the furniture. Flat whites were rich, aromatic & ultra smooth. A taste you won’t forget all day & you will be craving more, just unforgettable!
A Wellington icon, roasting since 1989 – and supplying to Midnight Espresso (Cuba St) around the same time.Easily one of the best mainstream coffee brands available, worth a visit for their niche single origin blends – otherwise sold at Moore Wilson’s down the road.
As a fan of Havana coffee for more than 10 years, I was well overdue to visit their premises on Tory Street for the first time since they moved the coffee roasting here a few years ago. I’m certainly no interior design expert, but I’d describe it as Cuban grunge, with comfortable seating in the pretty small space that they have. While the team takes their coffee business pretty seriously, they don’t take themselves too seriously, and this is evidenced by the adornments in the upstairs toilet – take a look for yourself. The girls on the coffee bar were both polite and friendly, and took time to chat during a relatively quiet time of the morning. Food options are limited to homemade pies, plus a range of sweet slices and treats (all outsourced, I’m guessing, as I didn’t see any evidence of a kitchen, chef or baker). As for the coffee, it was spot on, and most enjoyable.
One of the best places in Wellington for coffee. Not a lot of food here but it is a coffee bar not a cafe. Great and friendly service. The atmosphere at Havana is fantastic.
We had heard good things about this place so took our visitors here. None of us were impressed with the service/attitude/friendliness of the person behind the counter. There also wasn’t much cabinet food to choose from. The drinks were very nice though.
Best in city! Get your coffee from roasting area. Great drinks, or beans. Also cheaper than at market for beans. I love their Cuban beans but Columbian also top shelf.
