Since we are visiting Wellington and my son loves udon, I booked this restaurant as it seemed to have good reviews. As we were dining early we were the only ones there with a few people taking away.We shared their bento box A and rainbow roll, my son had their tempura udon and temago sushi which came on purple rice which is nice. The udon soup base was a bit on the sweet side and their teriyaki chicken in their bento box was tender and again very sweet. Friendly staff and they have asahi black which we like. This place is def 3.5 stars from us!
Overpriced for what you get. The average food is masked by a nice presentation. The food is also very oil and heavy. I’ve had stomach cramps all night after eating there.
The look of the food is good, the taste of the food is good, the smell of the food is good, the atmosphere of the restaurant is good, but the price is not good.
We had chicken curry rice and nigiri. Curry was very average. Chicken was very dry and had a weird sour taste.. too much vinegar in the nigiri rice.. very disappointing. Definitely overrated on zomato.
My partner and I really enjoyed our dinner at Origami. Friendly and quick service. We saw the photo of chicken salad and wanted to give it a go, and they didnt let us down. I loved the space at the back where they display sets of tea pots and such. Such a great experience!
This was one of my favourite Japanese restaurants in Wellington and I used to go here all the time. Unfortunately there has been substantial price increases, menu changes and they have become very stingy with their food. You use to get good value for money but this has since changed. For instance, the Bento Box was much cheaper and one of the options use to include both a Pork Cutlet and Teriyaki Chicken along with rice, salad, salmon roll, takoyaki, and gyoza, all for around $19.50. Now the price is $26.50 and no longer includes the rice or the Pork Cutlet so you have to pay extra for the rice if you want this taking the cost to nearly $30.They also have another restaurant in Palmerston North called Wabi Sabi which has the Bento box I am referring to for $19.50. Check it out as the price variations will shock you. After going to this restaurant at least 15 times, sadly I no longer go to Origami. On a plus note, the service is great and they have nice friendly staff.
Excellent food and quick service. Variety of sake to choose. Will suggest everyone, worth a visit.Ambience doesn’t suit a Japanese restaurant, looks more like cafe but who cares when awesome food is here.
