Came to have high tea with a group of friends on a rainy Saturday afternoon. We booked beforehand for a table of 20 so we got a private dining area, which was gorgeously set up. The waiters were attentive and prompt, and came around regularly to ask us if we needed anything else, which in my opinion, was great. They took our orders promptly, and we had a wide range of teas to choose from. The high tea arrived almost immediately and the presentation was really immaculate. There were a few common favorites among us: the crepe roll, beef bruschetta, and the chocolate tart. The pastry with goat cheese and caramelized onions also had gorgeous flavours. However, a few desserts such as the macarons and the polenta cake didn’t quite hit the sweet spot. Nonetheless, it was an enjoyable experience, and it would be rated higher if the price wasn’t so expensive. Showstopper: Attentive service, tea selection was good. Overall grade: B-
Fantastic buffet breakfast. Huge variety which was constantly being restocked. Loved it and would definitely come back again.
Today we went to the Amour for a High Tea for 9 people we also had a Vegan dinner as well with us and 3 babies, we had the most wonderful experience the food was absolutley Fantastic very generous and beautifuly set out it also was very very delious , they brought a special platter to our vegan dinner it was laden with beautiful goodies . They also gave extra sandwiches as we had someone that didn’t like salmon, my son inlaw was also with us and believe it or not we actually left food WOW once again thank you Amour you shine in the High Tea stakes !!!!!!
Came here for dinner in December. Only people in the restuarant for most of the evening – some people turned up just as we were finishing our mains, but that was it.The waitress was lovely, and really accomodating. We shared the chicken liver patte to start, and was very impresed. I believe it came with fried chicken livers, and for someone that’s not so much a fan of livers, they were amazing. My husband and I both had steaks. His was beautiful and came with the most amazing mushroom sace. Mine tasted like an entirely differnet cut of meat all together. I dunno what it was – it was fatty and tasted horrible! I got mine with a bearnaise sauce, which tasted nothing like a bearnaise sauce should! It reminded me of lemon curd. I couldn’t stomach it, and wished I had of got the mushroom sauce like my husband!! The sides with the steak were really good, and presentation amazing. I’d come back to the Amora, going on how my husband’s meal was. I hope mine was just a dud!
Friend & I had lunch here. Only people there! Was disappointed the menu wasn’t the one I viewed online – more like the dinner menu but didn’t query. Later wished I had, as another few people turned up later and got what I had wanted from the menu online (BLT with fries) which was not the menu we were given. They actually got served before us !We asked if the dessert choc plate would be enough for 2. Waitress checked and said yes, so ordered that and a coffee. Got the coffee but after about 40 minutes no dessert. Asked about this and waitress had thought I just wanted coffee. They did give me the coffee for no charge which was a nice touch. As another reviewer said, spotless dining area and food presented well. I had fish parcel which was nice enough but nothing to rave about.
I came in to this restaurant with low expectations. Actually, to be honest, no expectations. Hotel restaurants ultimately serve one purpose: room service. We were the only ones in the restaurant. Staff were nice and attentive, but the kitchen took so long to bring our food out. As the only diners in the restaurant, and a staff of 3 behind the kitchen (hello! open kitchen!!), I would have thought our meal would come out a lot faster than it did. We waited 25 minutes for some bland, overcooked steamed fish parcel and a lamb pilaf dish that tasted like it came straight from the freezer aisle of New World. I know these guys make a better buffet breakfast for their guests (I’ve actually been here a couple of times as a guest of a hotel guest for breakfast and their buffet isn’t bad; it’s not spectacular, but it’s edible and filling). Y’all can do better than this.
Very relaxing atmosphere on our visit here, everything laid out meticulously and spotless. A lot of attention to detail in presentation. Our waitress did not seem super experienced, but was friendly and respectful and had a good sense of humour, so the service overall felt really good.I had the steak, and it was cooked to perfection. I liked that it was served on a large square plate on its own, with the sides on a separate small rectangular plate, again – great presentation of food as with the restaurant overall. The sides and béarnaise sauce were nothing special, apart from the beautifully roasted vine ripened tomatoes (where did they get those!?!)Also tried the tiger prawns – delicious! really good. The dips that came with the bread were a little bland, though again presentation was so lovely that they were enjoyable anyway, breadsticks brought in a glass with a twig of rosemary. Lovely focaccia.Overall, a very good meal and an enjoyable evening.
