Went here for dinner midweek when it was nice and quiet, so the service was quick and our waitress very friendly. We had the lamb and steak with side salads and red wine. Good selection of wine and the food was fine, but we were expecting a bit more for that price range.
This was a very important night for us, a 21st birthday. I was very impressed with the atmosphere, pretty decor and pleasant classical music in the background. The menu was ok, especially the serloin however I was most disappointed with the duck , and vegetables (carrots and broccoli only) overcooked. The most disappointing part for me was that we had dressed up for this visit, and while the waitress was very attentive, she was only dressed in jeans and a dirty sweatshirt. With the cooking smells and the dresscode of the waitress, this took the shine off the evening. Not quite the experienced we had hoped for.
WOW! I took a friend from out of town who wants to come back for the duck comfit! Crisp skin, melt in the mouth tender meat, luscious flavour and with beautifully presented, still with some bite veges.Add helpful, friendly service and a restaurant where conversation is possible without raising your voice and you jave a wonderful dining experience. Thank you. Rosemary
Our meal this evening at Aubergine was exceptional. The waitress was friendly, efficient and unobtrusive. The food was well-presented and delicious. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the choice of music was excellent. I will certainly be dining here again. Highly recommended.
I went for a romantic dinner with my partner and thoroughly enjoyed the best duck in Wellington followed by an amazing sticky date pudding.I highly recommend dinning here and will be sure to return for another meal
We dined here on Saturday. We had a lovely three course meal. The food was superb, there was a great atmosphere. The restaurant is small but very cosy and we would recommend the experience to anyone looking for exquisite food.
Our family dined here in early March and as with previous visits were not disappointed. It is a charming small restaurant with an emphasis on French cuisine. The service is friendly, professional and discrete. Our dishes ranged from the delicious Duck comfit, steaks and the surprisingly tasty Boudin Blanc. These delicious handmade chicken sausages served on white beans were incredibly tasty and would not normally be our first choice on a menu. The sides were fresh, simple and tasty without the usual sauces drowning the food as you often get in some restaurants. Let the food speak and it did. The creme brulee should not be missed either. Thank you to our lovely hosts Chef Joe and host Kate for a very pleasant evening.
