Amazing food such great value for money super tasty and meat all cooked perfectly ! safe to say the best beef Wellington I’ve ever had. Service was disappointing and a let down to an otherwise outstanding meal!
Reading a few reviews I cant say that I was enthusiastic to dine in at the Glass, I mean the only reason I was here is because I was staying at the Thorndon hotel. On Zomato the reviews were damming to say the least, however in the good conscious of providing objective reviews and being desperate for a meal I decided to give this place a go. To my disbelief, the restaurant was rather busy with around 8-9 tables full of patrons I ordered the Butter milk fried chicken to kick things off and the Beef Wellington as my main. Butter milk fried chicken surprisingly delicious, freshly fried and the chipotle mayo’s small kick combined superbly. A little pricey for 16$ but the chicken was delicious and packed flavor well. The wait for the Beef Wellington is ridiculous though, 25-minute wait and with absolutely no notice either. When it did come out, I can’t say that I was too impressed. Droopy and sloppy looking, I was expecting some with a bit more grandeur. The sauce was rich and had a velvety taste which went well with the Wellington, however the pastry was flaky and there wasn’t any cohesive flavor. The beef was cooked well though and remained succulent.Showstopper: Buttermilk Fried Chicken.Overall Grade: B
Ordered Pulled Pork Burger. Very tasty!Pleasantly surprised, service was prompt and polite. Environment was a little shabby due to renovations and repairs
Absolutely delicious, was very tasty we went in with a grabone voucher the girl was very attentive and lovely. Would definitely recommend to all!!! (FYI we dined here today around 3)
Went here on a grabone breakfast coupon. Wasn’t worth what I paid, let alone full price. Their imaginary full price was $25 but I have had better for $10. This is a bog standard hotel buffet on a budget with no coffee and filthy facilities. There is a very limited range of choices and all are low quality. The menu and selection hasn’t been updated since the 80s and the coffee was the worst I have ever been served. You couldn’t even pay extra for a proper one. We had to keep asking for things like plates, cups, cutlery and even the coffee as everything kept running out which would have been understandable if they were even a quarter full. The young servers were eager to please and the dining room was pleasant until I went into the bathroom, which was filthy. I would hate to see the kitchen. Give it a miss.
I brought 3 deal vouchers online. Used one voucher with my husband on Sunday night, food was nice.I came again with my husband and my parents today for lunch, the food was different with menu, we ordered four dishes, all came with salad with no sauce. It felt like straight out from supermarket salad pack ! Service was poor-the waiters appeared twice to take order and deliver food then you can’t see them anywhere. We asked for tomato sauce for chips, took ages ! Never going here again !
My partner and I had lunch here last Sunday and the food was delicious. I had the fish and my partner had the steak and both looked spectacular on the plate and tasted wonderful. The coffee was also to a high standard. There were only two groups of people in the large restaurant and we were placed directly next to each other which was less than ideal. We were so close that we could hear each others conversation in the quiet restaurant and it would have been nicer if we were given the option to choose where we sat. That was the only let down to a lovely lunch and I’m surprised the restaurant was not busier.
