Hard to review as we didn’t actually eat here. We walked (4) to this restaurant for Dinner from where we were staying. We opened the door and the smell put us off eating here. The air smelt of rancid food. So we nicely declined a table and walked further up to the pub for dinner. The host was helpful. Can’t say any more really.

Went there today for the first time and loved it!! The food is delicious and their curries are actually flavored and not colored red ( like in most cases). The prices are great and it seems to have nice and friendly staff who are happy to help you out if you cant pick a dish to eat. I would definitely be going there again.

Have been to this restarant on 6 occassions. If you ask for spicy food they throw chilli flakes in there until it tastes of nothign else. If you don’t there is no spice at all. Their cheese naan is not stuffed as described in the menu, it is dried cheese on top of the dry on naan. Have received nothing with a decent flavour any time I have eaten here. Not recommended unless you’re looking for a cheap lunch. 4 dinners2 lunches.

Finally went there last week. Ordered the $27.50 per person meal deal. This came with an array of entrees, two meat curries and one vegetarian curry. They tasted amazing but there was not a lot of meat or vegetables in each curry. Mostly just the sauce. The naan bread was also a little burnt and could have been a little more thicker. The hostess was lovely and really attentive. Will definitely go back for a second go but if there are no improvements then might try somewhere else as I like to have big portions!

I ordered takeaway and had it delivered to my house. The one good point was that the delivery itself was brilliant, but it all went downhill from there. I ordered 2 curries – one was a Lamb Vindaloo. Hardly spicy at all, the lamb was overcooked and it sat in this pool of thin liquid and oil like a soup. Not like any other Lamb Vindaloo I’ve ever had. The Navratan Korma was my other dish and it was so consumed with coconut milk it was difficult to taste any of the other flavours. There was no effort put into the vegetables, which had the consistency of being from a frozen package. Again – it was over soupy and not like any other curry I’ve had before. Finally – the rice had clearly not been cooked fresh and was crumbly, dry and a horrible texture to eat. If I pushed some of my food off to the side of my plate, I was left with a pool of water in it’s place. I ended up throwing out most of the meal as I simply could not eat it. I decided to call Indus to give them feedback on their meal and all I was told was that they have NEVER had any other complaints before and were shocked to hear that I could possibly not enjoy my meal. They told me they checked with the chef and couldn’t see why I was upset with my meal – even justified the rice to saying that yes, it was re-heated from the day before (having been frozen overnight), but that ALL restaurants do that. They refused to give me a refund and offered instead a discounted rate on my next purchase. I said that given my experience I had no intention of ever ordering from them again so a discount was irrelevant. Out of all the brilliant Indian restaurants in Wellington, Indus is not one that I would recommend. Particularly when it wasn’t even as good as going to the food court at the mall.
