Enjoyed a good steak here and the waitress was great and recommended a wine as I didn’t know them, steak came out in 30 mins. Overall very happy – also I’ve never had better mushroom sauce.
My fiancé birthday party we decided to go to this place for lunch so we booked a table of 10 of us. We ordered our meals it took 50 minutes to get these very slow service. not follow up in regards to drinks etc very disappointed.
A group of 11 of us decided to try this restaurant after the Wellington Swap Meet.We hadn’t booked and the lone waitress was not fazed at all and quickly rearranged tables to suit us. Our orders were taken quite promptly and the meals came in good time. Every person was impressed with the quantity and the quality of their meal,so much so that we are going to organize regular trips here from Masterton. The place was clean, the waitress well dressed and very polite. A great place to dine as far as we are concerned Col
Four of us recently dined and resolved to never go back. The menu makes such a big deal about how they cook the steaks and describes in detail what blue, rare etc is so you get the impression it will be presented as ordered. I ordered rare and got a tough medium to well done steak. One of us had chicken and described it as I inedible. The service was average as was the rest of the food. When asked how our meals were there was no response to the complaint. The prices were good but the food did not match up, very disappointing night out.
I went here today for my father in laws birthday lunch. Not sure who recommended it to my in laws, but it was a great let down. I imagine that they are well known for their pizzas but the oven was broken so we couldn’t try them. Anyway, the waitress was terrible, very rude. The food was not even comparable to most of the pub meals I had had. The fish on the burgers looked like the frozen ones you get out of the supermarket and the burger was very bland. It was served with what the waitress said was aioli but tasted like margarine. The prices are pretty comparable to some nice pubs that we have been to. The only positive was that the food was served quickly and the restaurant was pretty quiet, but probably because most people were outside. We will not be going back here.
Five of us visited the Furnace Restaurant on Wednesday evening. The staff were friendly and helpful. Two of us ordered garlic bread – buttery and hot – yummy! All of our mains were average. Two people had the crispy chicken salad, one had the stuffed bell peppers and I had the stuffed lamb rump. We were surprised to learn that the seasonal vegetables were a veggie bake that night – potatoes etc, no greens. The crispy chicken salad seemed to be quite a hit although there was a comment that the ratio of chicken to greenery was a little on the light side. My lamb rump was tender enough however the stuffing was in fact a very tough fritter made of a bread mixture and herbs. Not overly pleasant. Our 5th guest joined us for dessert. She ordered the Baileys cheesecake along with one other in our party and I ordered the Creme Brulee. Disappointing all round! The cheesecake was stodgy and had loads of cream cheese in it and not even a hint of the Baileys. As for the Creme Brulee – the toffee pane was burnt and didn’t even cover the whole custard. I had to remove it to the side of the plate because the burnt taste overpowered the whole dessert.I’m not sure that we will be rushing back there anytime soon.
Had a lovely pizza lunch at the Furnace. Quiet and friendly with great food.
