Been here many times the best pizzas in New Zealand and I’m glad to be back in Upper Hutt so I can grab my self one would highly recommend going here the pizzas are always on point customer service is always brilliant and the atmosphere of the the place is just brilliant
We went here for dinner and I wasn’t expecting a lot from reading the reviews others have wrote about this place but I was pleasantly surprised when the food came out. It is most defiantly one of my favourite pizzas I have ever had. Great size for the price you pay and all the ingredients used tasted amazing. The only fault was it took awhile to come out once we ordered it but it is so yummy that it’s worth the wait!!
Extremely sad to have to stop supporting a local business. I really like the food in this place and have been going there for the last 2 years or so, sadly recently a very unhappy lady has been the front of the house, she looks like the owner or something, and interesting enough, I haven’t seen her before even though I have frequented the pizzeria almost every weekend for a long time. This lady changed my experience with the place for good. The first time we’ve been there with her in the place was probably around 3 weeks ago and she was clearly unhappy to be there but it was ok, the other lovely staff was there and I didn’t think much. When I went the 2nd time (around a week ago) they had 2 tables available but she still made a point on complaining about us not having made a booking (I’m not fan of bookings, I like to choose where to go for food when I’m hungry and on my way, not hours before) and really, if the restaurant didn’t have a table available I would made a choice of having to takeaway OR to go somewhere else, but since they had, I don’t see the point of being annoyed with us. At that day I felt extremely judged and didn’t like the attitude, but, again, I do love pizza and going to Art of the Pizza was a part of my life so decided to try again last Thursday 13/04/2017. As I already said, my life is decided on the minute, it was around 8.30pm or so and we were trying to decide what to eat, passed through the pizzeria, the Open sign was still outside so we stopped. At this point we were received by this lady, with a terrible face, extremely unhappy, I felt so bad that, of course, I asked if they were still opened for what she said they were but went to pick up the menus almost stomping like a teenage girl that have been ordered to her room or something. That’s when my partner and I decided to leave because clearly we were such a problem on her life. If they were closing, just say the word, if she doesn’t like to have a business, just don’t have one. I work with customer service and have been for years, it’s not an easy thing but your client doesn’t have to pay for your unhappiness in life. For that, I’m terribly sad to say I will not go back to eat there. Never have been so mistreated in New Zealand. And I’m sad for her lovely staff that have to work for her.
Good thing their name is art of pizza and not art if wedges. As part of our order we got the wedges which were undercooked under seasoned and really unexciting. On the pizza front the dough was nice light and fluffy. Tried the winemaker and the white winemaker was the better good ingredient mix and was a hit, the whites balance was alittle off with huge piles of ricotta that weren’t combatted by anything leaving that pizza lacking.
We ordered a two much and a meatza and at $25 a piece I would have expected something much better than what we got. The base was doughy and undercooked despite being thin crust. The toppings and cheese were nice, but they used store bought sauces and really slathered them on. If it was a 15 or 20 dollar pizza this would have been more acceptable, but considering the price point I would have expected something a bit nicer (especially considering the cost of operating in the hutt). Also, no delivery is a bummer. Now the positives! The staff were pleasant and the service was fast. The atmosphere inside the shop is nice and the wood oven is cool. The pizza tasted nice, if not a bit stodgy and over sauced.
Went for a birthday dinner with family. Great pizzas, fresh ingredients & true to the wood fired tradition. The service was the very best & staff extremely friendly. The place itself is modern and great decor. Highly recommend for a wonderful evening !
Had dinner here with some friends tonight. The food was very over priced for what it was. The menu seemed a lot nicer than the food. I ordered the chicken wings with barbecue sauce however, there was no barbecue sauce on there that I could see. Also, when I ordered desert I was given a tiny slither of cake that cost me $9.50. Doubt I will ever be back.
