This is an okay place but is let down by the sometimes indifferent attitude of the staff and the atmosphere.. It could be great with a few design changes but currently just resembles a hastily thrown together small town diner/cafe. The kitchen closes ridiculously early, so if you want a meal you have to be there early. The food, when you can get it, is usually good – their savoury tarts are delicious, and the coffee is great when it’s made properly. Shame they don’t do something about the place, with so few good cafes in Upper Hutt it would be a winner.

Trying out all the cafes in the neighbourhood, looking for our next local. Not sure about this place – I think as someone else noted, it’s lacking a certain vibe. Tables are a bit squashed together and just not as comfortable as it could be. They need a good designer to go in and rearrange the place. In saying that, my coffee was good and the lemon muffin was delicious. Had a quick look at the menu – looked a bit expensive for the surroundings. I would definitely stop in again for another muffin and coffee but perhaps get takeaway. Friendly lady on the counter who had a bit of a chat with me.
This is the second time I have been to Limelight Cafe. I had a wonderful Cajun Chicken salad that was on special for only $12. Well presented and my Long Black was fantastic. The only thing that let it down was the young girl behind the counter should smile and not focus on the next task she has to do.
Went to Limelight cafe today, this is the second time in the last month, it was great both times the Coffee, food and service, plus they have added to the decor.I like to check out alot of Cafes over the year, on my day off, I would rate them in my top three.
I think this place has new owners! Everything has completely changed since the last time i was in there – new decor, new menu and everything looks a lot cleaner and much more welcoming! The staff were lovely and very helpful. The food was delicious and very good value for money – i had the continental breakfast which i highly recommend if you fancy something a bit different! They also have an extensive tea selection which i chose and my partner opted for a coffee which was only $3.50! Will definitely be returning!
