*** THIS DOES NOT REFLECT THE SERVICE AS THE GUYS WERE AMAZING ***It was about 10pm and my partner and I wanted something substantial to eat with our VodkasThis is not the place if your looking for food but Ive seen they do good craft beers..They had Vegan Options which was nice but ran out of Vegan Pastry. We opted for Dumplings. In Auckland you get like 20 for $12.All I can say is this $12 for 6 Dumplings is a Rip Off.Id expect something spectacular at $2.00 a dumpling. We come down once a year for WOW.
Great quiet underground bar, away from the busy Courtnay Place.Always a good range of local beers on tap and a few 8-10 deg non-carbonated ales on the hand pull. They offer a SOBA discount Sun to Weds.Been to many a beer tasting here with the Craft Beer College.
I can’t comment on the food, but when it comes to a sweet little nook for a couple of quiets this has got to be one of the better spots. Be it Beer, whisky, umeshu etc there is a fine drop of it available here. I recommend.
This is a wonderful little cult beer bar – the perfect spot for a beer enthusiast. As you walk down the stairs, you enter this exciting little bar that almost feels a bit like a bunker. The range of beers here is outstanding, there’s truly something for everyone. Some of my favourites are the pumpkin beer and the most recent one I tried was a Creme Brulee by Southern Tier. The staff all seem very knowledgeable, and will help you select something you’re sure to enjoy.
Hashigo Zake is the force behind some extremely fine craft beer and related events in Wellington. The bar itself is comfortable, the staff are very knowledgeable, and the selection of beer is huuuuuuge. Also, don’t forget to try one of their brilliant pies!
you stumble out of work gasping for a drink. today is not a day for steinlager, tuatara or even epic. today is a day for something totally new and out there. down the stairs you plunge to fall at the feet of the barman praying for salvation. I’ll have a Mikeller Jackie Brown and bring me some edamame while you’re at it. Hashigo Zake i love you!Service: 4/5Ambience: 4/5Drink: 5/5Value for Money: 4/5
Whenever I’m at a loss for where to take my out-of-town visitors, I turn to this beer/sake bar. HZ embodies Wellington fairly well, dontcha think?Asian-inspired decor and very knowledgeable barmen tend the counter and pour cult beers and pretty decent sake. It’s a great haven from the Courtney Place mess most afternoons and evenings. Weekend nights can get quite crowded as this place becomes more popular, but it’s quite nice in the afternoons with plenty of empty tables and bar stools to occupy. They offer a small, Asian fusion tapas menu from which I have yet to order.
