We come here a few times a year before our functions at the Amora and it is always clean, welcoming and inviting. The staff is always friendly and accomodating. The food is great value for money, large portions, fresh and delicious! Great family dining or for functions!
Excellently prepared large meals. Steak was cooked to perfection. My wife had the pork chop which was still very juicy. Had friends in from Australia, and they raved about the food.
Service was great. Waitress were friendly and even spoke to my young kids. This place isn’t fine dining, and they don’t pretend to be either. It’s traditional, simple meals. They pride themselves on changing little since 1946. Starters is sliced white bread and butter. On the menu they had bacon and eggs (for dinner), and milk. It ain’t a cheap place to dine, but portions are massive. I’ll be back one day.
Certainly an iconic restaurant. Great for a family dinner. Slightly older clientele/market. Think sliced white bread and butter as an entre. The mixed grill is awesome!
Arrived on a busy night looking for a table for two, and were told there’d be a wait of a hour. Went outside to confer, came back in and were seated immediately but someone else. Not sure what happened there! Service was average overall. They bring out regular sliced sandwidge bread with butter to start with, so weird. Meals are very overpriced for what you get and pretty average, schnitzel was tough and the salads definitely did not seem fresh. I’ve usually had better from simple pubs. I’d also like to see a vegetarian option on the menu – I know it’s a steakhouse with a historic menu, but surely they can add to it, given not everyone likes eating large quantities of meat but occasionally gets dragged to steakhouses by our loved ones. Really unimpressed that this place did not live up to its reputation.
I take my family here quite a bit, good food, OK service (the older gentleman behind the grill is the friendliest of all) , large portions. do recommend
