We were walking on the waterfront and had a look at flamingo. We were extremely happy with the service. My wife and I had poached eggs on toast and we shared a bowl of chips. We went there for lunch and it was great. It is definitely a place to go on the spur of the moment.
The actual decor of the place was our highlight for the night. The food was too expensive for sufficiently average and under-seasoned, small portions. $21 for warm cream cheese, a few hidden leaves and a handful of nacho chips were sold as their best “cheesy spinach dip”. The Bang-Bang chicken didn’t have enough bang at all – from the lack of salt and chilli sauce or the excess oil. It also doesn’t look nice when the waitress is complaining loudly about the customers that left behind us and we can hear her. Definitely needs some refinement and improvements before we consider returning.
Ordered the ‘Blowtorched Tuna Poke Bowl’ and was not impressed. The fish tasted off and had a chewy texture and found a few tiny scales in the dish. The noodles looked (and tasted) rubbery and you could tell they were not fresh as they all stuck together in a big clump. The presentation of the dish was very nice, a shame that the actual taste let it down! Definitely not worth $26!!
We went for our work Christmas celebration, and the food took an hour to come. The waitress had attitude (she asked if we needed anything else and disappeared before we could respond, then when asked for aioli, she said, ‘oh gosh!’). I ordered the chicken burger which was dry, one order came without coleslaw and the other with half of the fries missing.
The food and drinks are good. The service is friendly. The furniture and interior design are fun. We like the place, and have been twice. But the design of the building, like so many modern places is terrible. There is far too much concrete so the sound reverberates. That means people have to talk louder to be heard which increases the reverberating noise, making it very difficult to have a conversation. If you put up some sound baffles to absorb the noise people can talk.
Such a cool place to go! The decor of the place it’s self is so fun and made the experience even better. Staff were super lovely and helpful when I was being a bit fussy about what I wanted to drink. Offered me tasters of some options and even offered to create a whole new drink for me. Food itself was good. Had the smashed avo with halloumi. Was nice enough, the bread was a bit weird and quite hard to the point where I couldn’t cut it. Overall had a good time but for the price I payed for what I got could have been slightly better.
