I’be been there for burger welly event. Burger was good but service is horrible. They had a cheap look on face for us may be because we ordered only one burger and shared between two. Reason for ordering one burger is because we had planned to try other burgers from different places as it was an event and had limited time to taste all the burgers across Wellington. Bad rating is only for service. They were rude for questions we asked and don’t care attitude screwed my experience . Would never go back.
Only had wings, very average no spice or crunch, maybe mains are the focus, were greasy andtasted off would not recommend.Focus seems to be on be restaurant diners.
I liked it! As a Canadian visiting Wellington for the first time I really liked the atmosphere. Very cozy ant quaint. It was a short walk from my hotel. The service was incredible. Food was delish! Smoked chicken wings! Wowsers!! Fish and chips was very good! Beer selection on tap was limited. All in all very positive experience.
Featherstone is good for fried mash. Its proper tasty and I could eat it on its own. What’s disappointing is what the mash comes with. I’ve eaten here 3 or 4 times, sometimes being pleasantly surprised at a beef sausage and other times wondering why they bothered serving creamed corn when it tastes like suggared wallpaper paste. The service is decent though.
Great Pub with tasty food!Second time I’ve been here separated by a couple of years. It’s down the road from the IBIS hotel on Featherston and I remembered it on my walk back to check in to the hotel. Quick change of clothes and I’m in there in 5 mins. A friendly greeting from the bar and we agree on where I’m sitting. 1 min later I have a beer in front of me. A few mins perusal of the excellently simple, but v tasty, menu gets me to order a lamb pie from the also friendly waiter. Cutlery arrives, followed by the pie 10 mins later. It’s old school crispy flaky on top of a bowl of steaming hot tasty lamb stew. It goes perfectly with the one of several craft beers this place has on tap. Much shoveling goes on before I run out of flaky top. Then the genius comes in – they serve it with perfectly toasted thick wedges of fresh bread – cut to that perfect angle to mop up the stew from the corners of the bowl. A small touch but genius none the less. Another craft beer and I’m satisfied. The other diners are congenial, happy and obviously satisfied too. Want excellent pub grub served by friendly motivated staff, in a great atmosphere in a great location? Then come here – you won’t regret it. ☺ Ross
Was pleasantly surprised by this pub. Very grand upon entry, spacious, and has 20s/Great Gatsby like feel to it. Large main and beverage lists, decently priced by comparison to Wellington CBD-standard. I chose the 250g Rib-eye steak, which was cooked medium-rare, and it was absolutely delicious – very tender, and the garlic butter was a nice touch (see photo). I split a dessert (the $6 Triple Chocolate Cheesecake) with my partner and it was just the right amount because it was so rich. All desserts are $6 which is unheard of, or you can get all 3 for $15 – great for sharing, or if you just want to pig out. Have recommended to all, will definitely be back again soon!
I found the menu covered all bases except for vegetarians. The chorizo and prawn covered in chicken with black rice was exceptionally bland. Maybe next time I’ll come for the drinks rather than the food.
