Good food and service but poor coffee. Long black looked like dishwater. Told staff it should have a crema and was told that it was macchiato that had that! Replacement not much better.
How did this place fly under my radar!? Great service great food and a great place to stop in for lunch! Ordered a panini as I was short on time, delish! Will definitely return for a longer lunch after seeing the food from the kitchen!
Had a chickpea curry salad, taste fantastic, though it’s not heated evenly, not a big deal to me cuz I guess there’s nothing else they can do but microwave when it got busy. Nice service, very friendly staff. Toilet clean. Just wish this place could be brighter and not that black brown and dark.
Went to VERVE for the advertised 2 for 1 breakfast deal 2 days ago. Signs at every table. We were in the middle of the time slot at 8am and they were not busy at all. But when we ordered we did not get the deal. Others who joined us later (6 of us in total) also did not get the deal and each person was charged full price despite ordering in pairs. The coffee was okay but not great. The atmosphere is confusing, quite cold, dark and empty. Service is poor, no attempt to clear finished plates despite not being busy and staff standing around. The food was not good. Poached eggs on toast consisted on 2 large slabs of bread, barely toasted and no butter/spreads. The eggs were tasteless and over cooked, rubbery and had a strong vinegar taste. Two of us left the food almost untouched and service staff failed to notice. Others were also not impressed.
I know this place from one of my friends when we met there for some chit-chat. The staff are friendly enough to make you feel warm and cozy. The coffee is awesome, from mochaccino to flat white and whatnot. I haven’t tried their food yet except some sweet cakes like banana loaf and walnut ginger loaf (decent taste). This has become my regular destination during my shift break. If you keep coming back to this place, the staff will know your order even before you step your feet in 😀
My girlfriend received a flyer that said “2 for 1 Breakfast at Verve” (which runs until tomorrow 31th), so today we decided to have breakfast there. We came in at around 8.20 a.m., and it was already busy. That was not an issue as there were a lot of seats available. We sat on booth style seats, and I personally liked the black and brown colour-theme going on.We both ordered their The Works, it is a little bit different from the menu that is currently posted on their Zomato page. It is now $20.50 not $19.50, not an issue, but just a heads up. That dish also now involves potato rosti as oppose to hash browns.I have never heard of potato rosti before coming to Verve, but it is now one of my favourite potato-based recipes; it was very savoury and the texture balance was perfect, crispy on the outside, and soft and moist on the inside. There were good portions of bacon. The mushrooms were very herby which I liked. The sausages, which tasted like chorizo, maybe they were, had a nice smokey flavour, but they were not dry, there were juicy. They make a great poached egg. The sour dough was a good compliment to everything on the dish. I would have like to have more than one slice of tomato, but it was not a major issue as everything else on the plate was great. It was very filling, and definitely worth the price. As you can see from the photos, this meal was plated nicely and very appetizing. Their mochaccino was great; I liked the chocolate fish touch. My girlfriend said this was probably the best big breakfast she has had, and she loves breakfast food. There was a good service from the staff especially the staff at the counter, she confirmed with the kitchen staff that our order could be made in expected time before she charged us for the meal. We did not expect the meal to be made so quickly, even when it was very busy! It took around 10 minutes; we were definitely satisfied with that.I feel like I cannot give this review any higher than 4 (for now) even though I was satisfied with everything, just because I would like to spend more time there and try more meals. I will be looking forward to coming there again. I definitely recommend this to café goers and people who enjoy a great breakfast.
