We went to tagaytay yesterday, i was curious regarding this restaurant because of the name maybe they have bagoong in every dishes, which was true. We ordered guyabano, melon and manga shakes which for me the later were from concentrate. I tried the traditional Kare-kare didn’t taste of any twist tho but bearable. The next was the krispy pata with bagoong we didn’t finish the whole dishes because its too fatty, but i guess a good ambience and the company of friends makes your lunch appetizing.
We went here to celebrate my grandmother’s birthday and retirement. We never heard of this restaurant, but we decided to try it out. Accommodating staff, and the singkamas and bagoong appetizers were fine. That’s about the end of the good food experience. The garlic chicken inasal tasted too bitter, and almost everything else was either too bland or tasted funny. The binagoongan (!!!) tasted very little of actual bagoong and instead tasted a bit like gata. The ginataan was good, though. The bulalo was, dare i say, mediocre. Overall, not a satisfying restaurant experience.
Our first trip was incredible. The food were all delicious and the serving was generous. However, our second time was such a disappointment. I was craving kare-kare but this time around, there were barely any pieces of meat other than the fat. The flavor wasn’t as great as I remember. Location is in Twin Lakes. The view is terrible now with all of the construction. Definitely not something I’d go out of my way for.
