A nice surprise in the Tagaytay area, and I think now one of the must try restaurants in the area. We came here without any reservation this New Year’s weekend for brunch, and luckily we were able to get a table as there were a couple of parties booked for lunch already. I have to say my expectations were thoroughly exceeded. Service was very warm and friendly, the food was definitely on a higher scale than other Tagaytay restos. This isn’t a good for Tagaytay caliber resto, this is a plain good resto that you can put up against any place in Manila. We tried their thai beef salad and their vegan salad, the thai beef salad definitely had a very bold flavor though some might find it a little too intense. Their greens and other veggies are quite nice and locally sourced. Pastries and baked goods by Little Flour are available here, and I have to say that they are the standout items. Even the complimentary dinner rolls we got were so good, they were almost closer to ensymada than they were regular bread. We tried a couple of items but their sriracha chicken sandwich stood out to me. The bread again was terrific, though I would have liked a better meat to bun ratio, as the meat was a little small compared to the bun it was in. Luckily in this case, I have no problem eating the bun on its own. For dessert we tried their hummingbird cake and strawberry shortcake, while the hummingbird cake is the more awarded one, it was the strawberry cake that had me wanting more. The cake was so moist, it almost felt like a tres leches cake. I would absolutely get that every time. The hummingbird cake is akin to a cake version of banana bread, and it’s quite nice, but it is a little dense. Take note their cake slices are pretty big here, it might be twice as large as you might expect. I’ve tried most of the popular places in Tagaytay already, and I can say this is one of the best new places to go to and the one I’d want to go back to again. Especially considering the lines that other places have, while this place is nice and quiet.
