  Ordered several cakes and various pastries from here for an event we’re going to have. I’ve tried their chocolate delice cake and it was delicious, haha. Chocolate chip cookies were good too. Didn’t like the bacon mooncake though, but to be fair, I haven’t got much love for mooncakes.The place is quite small, so there’s not really much to say about their ambiance. cnicolego.wordpress.com

  I so love this place! It made me feel like I was at a coffee shop somewhere in France. The coffee was good and their Vanille Mille Fuille was extremely delicious! Its sweetness was just perfect to the taste and it’s good enough for two to eat. I’m looking forward to coming back here and will try out some of their other food and drinks.

  Comfortably Luxurious. Madeleine really has this exquisite take on the cakes and breads they serve. What I love here are the different cheesecakes and the Vanille Mille Fuille. Inspired by French bakeshops and Parisian cafes with an al fresco set-up, Madeleine has its tables and chairs lined up a few meters away from their counter and display.   AmbianceMadeleine is a French bakery with an open design wherein hotel guests can simply stop by and point whatever it is they like to try out, the same concept patterned after patisseries in France. It also has an alfresco seating capacity of 30 people if the guests decide to eat on the spot. FoodMadeleine’s offerings range from chocolate confections, cakes, quiches and freshly baked breads. They also accept orders for custom-made cakes for special occasions. Some popular cafes and coffee shops in Cebu also partner with Madeleine which confirms the quality of their products.After taking pictures, we now proceeded to my favorite part, eating. Basically, we had to share so that we could taste a little of everything. I started with the outcast, the Tuna Sandwich at PHP150, so as not to confuse my palate. Tuna combined with lettuce, cheese and mayo was delicious and considerably healthy as well. The next ones I tried were the Danish Strawberry at PHP80 and Doughnut Vanilla at PHP65 and they were enormously good. Aside from being freshly prepared, I loved the texture and the simple dynamic of the Ham and Cheese Croissant that I could eat this every single day paired with a glass of wine. Now, for the battle of the cakes, the third place goes to the Island Cake at PHP190 since the sweet and a bit sour taste with the grated coconut sprinkles on the outside was just not for me. Tied at second place were the Blueberry Cheesecake and Chocolate Delice each at PHP150 since these flavors are too mainstream. For me, the winner is the newly-introduced Mille Feuille Vanilla at PHP145 with a subtle sweetness and varying textures that you’ll surely can’t get enough of.   Madeleine is one of the several restaurants you can find inside Waterfront Hotel. This restaurant is the hotel’s French-inspired bread and pastry shop, making it stand out among the rest of the restaurants. You would go crazy if you are a cake-lover because this shop serves one of the best cakes in town!Last October 16, 2015, Madeleine just launched its new set of pastries and bread. The launching also highlighted their new French Executive Pastry Chef, Benoit Andre Laboureux, who is responsible for the newfangled pastries and bread. For this review, allow me to focus more on their pastries. They had served a lot of mouth-watering desserts for us to taste – Puff Praline Choux, Lemon Tart, Mille-Feuilles Vanilla, Crunchy Choco Baileys, Fraisier, Sphere Choco Green Tea, Island Cake, and Choco Orange Grand Marnier.I had the savored two of the eight delightful pastries that they have served – The Crunchy Choco Baileys and the Choco Orange Grand Marnier.The Crunchy Choco Baileys is made from nut and almost paste which makes this lovely dessert crunchy. It is also composed of Meat Chocolate, Coffee, Baileys, and whip & cream. The flavors blend perfectly allowing the taste of the baileys to stand out. The chocolate ball with a ganache made from meat chocolate and whip & cream was somehow too sweet. The covering of the chocolate ball was quite hard to munch on but once you have broken its shell, it’s so easy to consume it already.For the Choco Orange Grand Marnier, the freshness of the Orange flavor shines. I like how the flavor of the fresh fruit captures my taste buds. It is also made from Dark Chocolate, Whip & Cream Marnier and Cocoa Powder.
