One of the popular local restaurants in cebu. This is a restaurant that features Cebu’s cuisine. The ambiance is like an old-style Filipino home, Chika-an sa Cebu have a wide selection of great-tasting Pinoy dishes, they have utan Bisaya, monggos soup, pinakbet and buwad. Their menu covers various soups, salads, appetizers, desserts, and drinks. If you like the soup called sinigang, then you might be interested to know that you can have sinigang in four different ways, they have sinigang made with bangus, tanguigue, shrimp, and pork. Chika-an’s tinola can be made with either tanguigue or chicken. They also have biko, banana and jackfruit turon with latik, fresh mango, halo-halo, Pinipig Delight, leche flan, and sylvanas and a whole lot more. If you enjoy a native Filipino dishes in an atmosphere of straightforward dining then this is the right place for you. We ordered, camaron rebosado, kawali, kinilaw and lumpia shanghai. Their food tastes fascinating and satisfying and are affordable too.

One of the best restaurants I’ve visited so far. Whenever I think of a restaurant, I think about Chikaan first. All their foods are so amazing and the price is just affordable. The staffs are accommodating. Higly recommended.

The Terraces-Ayala outlet is not too spacious but its design appears to convey a ‘Beauty in Simplicity’ feel. I admire the unobtrusive yet eye-catching figures adorning the walls. The overlapping concentric patterns made of natural capiz shells give off a radiant, tropical island vibe while at the far end, photographs of iconic Cebu landmarks provide a sense of history. If I were to choose one dish that perfectly exemplifies the taste of what Chika-an has to offer, I would pick the Mongo Soup (Php 165). Considered by many as a poor man’s viand, Chika-an’s rendition transforms this lowly dish into something superior. Rich, creamy & healthy (lots of malunggay & alugbati leaves), we liked that they’ve added pieces of dilis (anchovies) on top of the shrimp & pork bits to enhance the flavor of the broth. This is by far the best version of the Filipino mung bean soup we’ve ever tasted! The Sizzling Squid Ala Pobre (Php 209) and Lumpia Shanghai (Php 185) were tasty & satisfying. However, the Crispy Pata (Php 449, Large) was a little overcooked, some parts of the pork skin & meat were a bit burnt and too brittle.Despite some occasional slipups in the service, Chika-an sa Cebu remains one of our family’s favorite Filipino restaurants.

Food was ok, nothing special. The service took about 30 minutes or so and I was really sleepy that time i almost dozed off. One good thing is the unlimited rice.

Menu is primarily composed of common Filipino dishes such as crispy pata, bihon, pochero (to name a few). I have eaten in Chikaan many times with my family and this is mainly due to their unlimited rice priced at 42 php and relatively affordable viands, which serves 2 to 3 people. Place is adequate enough but expect long qeues on Friday nights and weekends. One thing that bothers me the most about Chikaan is their consistency in service and quality of food. There were times when service was bad and lousy; there were times when it’s passable. Sometimes, food tastes really good or really subpar. Tonight, we ordered tinolang tanigue, calamares and fried free range chicken (something new in their menu). Tinolang tanigue was served warm enough but fish used was not really fresh. Calamares had good color but lacked seasoning. It was obvious that the squid rings used were from frozen bags that did not really taste like squid. Also, too much breading on calamares. Fried free range chicken was fine, except that it was served pretty late. We already finished the tinola and calamares and had too wait for a few minutes before the chicken wad brought out. Service was fine and we were seated immediately upon entering.

My girlfriend and I had a dinner in this restaurant last week. We both love this Filipino restaurant in Cebu. We ordered Pochero Soup, Baked Scallops, Squid Sisig , Calamares and Buttered Garlic Shrimp(which is her favorite). Good place and just an average restaurant where you can eat and pay after.
