The watami salad is great, and the maki we had (tuna aburi) was good. The mackerel teishoku set I ordered was good too. It reminded me of the mackerel teishoku set I had in Japan. We also ordered cold soba (which is a dish I love and am too biased for lol), and the chasu rice in stone pot, and I recommend that for rice lovers (you must try the crispy rice at the bottom)! Overall, really good flavors in Watami with decent prices. Just don’t expect authentic Japanese as these taste almost Western-ized.

A first try at a Japanese restaurant because I’m not so much a fan of sushi and ramen (I know, I may be missing out a lot) but these aren’t just for me but my experience at Watami managed to change a few of this perspective. I absolutely love their Chasu ramen. The noodles were medium cooked, tender meat and the spice just right. I’m already planning a second bowl soon! Their bbq skewers took too long to cook that by the time it was served we were already done with out hotpots. Not nice. Their Passion Mango teas are very refreshing and were served in huge glasses that’s good for 2 people imo. The ambience is nice and quiet although the lights aren’t so ideal for phone photos because they cast a shadow when you try to do flatlays hehe.Rio, the server, is especially nice and accommodating. I love that she was always ready to help and answer a few of our questions about the food.My overall dining experience is an 8/10. I def want to come back!

Located in ground floor of Ayala Terraces. The ambience is bustling with people. The staff were very welcoming, and attentive. We were seated immediately despite the crowd. Ordered the fatty salmos sashimi, chasu stone pot mix bowl, the salmon aburi taco, japanese grilled squid, and (2) bottles of Sake recommended by our server. They menu has alot of options, and they have a pretty good list of Sake you can enjoy from. The fatty salmon sashimi was excellent. It was juicy coming from a good quality fish. Dipped it on a wasabi, wallowed down with Sake and it was outstanding. It wasn’t your usual commercial sashimi that you get in a buffet. Pairs well with alcohol. The aburi salmon taco was scrumptious. The base was crispy and tasty. The fish itself was flavorful. Hands down! Next we tasted the chasu stone pot rice bowl, it wan’t too intense which is good. Was mild on the palate, well balanced flavor. It has bite size pork meat on it, they didnt leave it out dry. Grilled squid was awesome. Juicy and fresh. Was not overcooked or rubbery. Was grilled right. All these was enjoyed with my (2) bottles of refreshing Sake at 13% alcohol. It mellowed down all too well. Our server Jill was awesome. She knew what to recommend and knew alot about the taste of the Sake, if you wanted it sweet, or citrusy. Mine was crisp, with a clean finish and less aftertaste. You could choose alot from the Sake list. Service is awesome here. It was an amazing dinner. Definitely coming back. (Check out my other reviews on other japanese restaurants)
